Katipunan:
Forgot the name. Nasa street sa tapat ng Gate 3 ng Ateneo. Malapit sa KFC Katipunan.
I know this is a very old thread but here goes anyway. That store's name was "EG's Hobby Corner". I opened that store in Sept. of 2000 because of the Mini4WD insanity. But because I am a modeler, I did stock it with kits and displayed built models, mostly from the guys at IPMS Phils.-BAC. I'm not a prolific modeler like Buck, but I do collect(just like most of us). Most of the 1/72nd aircraft you may have seen there are Buck's(his modesty is false, believe me
) Sadly I had to close the store as it was no longer tenable
Most of my remaining stock I turned over to Natalie(JMN). I also owned the hobby shop at Shangrila Mall "FUTABA". I was there from 1993 to 1998. Aside from the kits I also sold RC planes and choppers. The first Asian crisis of 1997 was the one that killed that store. Plus the fact that management wanted to revise my rent. Needless to say it isn't easy to run a "pure" hobby shop. JMN, Lil's and the rest have other inventory that help defray the operating costs. Unfortunately, I could not afford to do so. Maybe someday.......
The hobby shop at Virra Mall, B&D Hobbies was owned by Fred Cajolis, and you may have seen Mel "Webster" Silvestre manning the shop at times. I also loved that store as it was a "pure" hobby shop. That's where I saw Albert Labrador's "Battle of Caen" dio. Fantastic!!!
So to those who have patronozed the shop(s) that I operated, I thank you very much. Perhaps when we push through with our eyeball, I may recognize some of you. And the invitation to attend and join IPMS Phils.-BAC is always offered.
