Age:51 Got the DML Hornisse(sounds like one of the Hippo ballet dancers from Fantasia) on sale from Military Hobbies today for $31 Cdn. and a Tristar SP Crew. They are both very nice. How many years will it take me to build all the kits I have now? I can just see it ,"Hey,St.Peter, how about just one more kit?..Huh? Yeah, but Tamiya is coming out with a new Sherman..." JOCK

OK Scoccia you wanted some stats here you go:

Of the 81 people who responded the average age is 35
The oldest is 58
The youngest is 13 (there was one part-time user who is 9)
Teens-7
20's-14
30's-30
40's-20
50's-9
The average mental age seemed to be in the early teens (10-13). I would attribute that to the modeling, but my wife says, "no, it's a guy thing" :-)

I was actually surprised at the ages. I thought it would average out to be a younger group, like maybe in the mid to upper 20's. But when I think about it, I guess those guys/gals are out looking for other gals/guys, or either getting a family started

Thanks to all who responded, and there is still room for more!

Thanks very much for the stats Kelley, I'm sure that your work will be very interesting for all the other fellas out here. For me it's a kind of confirmation of what I see at the model shops in the area, where the majority of the customers are 30+. Lots of kids down here were involved in the big T's Mini 4WD, but it seems that also this market is going quite down...
On the other side I'm very pleased (and surprised too) that there are at leas 7 teen agers, and I hope their number will grow up, because they are the future of the hobby.
Thanks again for working out the figures
Fabio

Whoa! No kidding right? 13? That's great y'know. I've started building kits while I'm 9 but only when I turn 14 when I started to paint the kits. Only this few months ago, I've started building non-snap on kits. Very well, nice to meet you

I was away, and missed this thread.

I'm 44, but like all the others don't always feel it. I have an older wife, so I guess that explains it.

Looks like I get the senior citizen award! Just turned 61. Looks like I'll have to live another 61 years to build the kits on my shelves.
