Ok guys, we've been hearing about the new show Tank Overhaul well today I saw not one but two commercials for it on the Military Channel. The show starts this Tuesday night at 8PMCST, so check your listings for the time in your area!

An upcoming episode will show a WWII Panther, found in a lake/mud being restored.

It's a cool show, but the only one I've been able to catch is the Comet. Nice, but not 3 times I'd love to see the Panther. I guess I'll have to wait.

The biggest thing I learned from the show is what a lady of a time the mechanics and crew must have had doing any kind of repairs in the field...

Sheesh, what a pain in da butt!

Cheers, Michael

They did a Sherman this week. Im kind of disappointed with the show. They dont show a whole lot of the tank being restored and never show it when its even remotely being close to finished. Half the show about the Sherman was about the M1 Abrams!

They also did a Hellcat.

Yea, the show's a great idea but it's not been done correctly. Since they only have 4 tanks that have been restored on film for this show, I don't know why they didn't make it into a series, showing the progress each week. They could have broken the work done into several weeks for each vehicle, easily a seasons worth of episodes if they broke it down into 6 eps for each vehicle.

I would like to see them expand on this theme, follow leads to where tanks may be buried, show them unearthing them, cleaning them, etc, etc. I dont think they have a whole lot of faith in their audience staying with them, otherwise they'd go a different route.

Well, I think they stated airing the show much too early. It would have made a better show if

A. If , as Moezilla suggested, they broke the show into season long runs about one tanks restoration, or even multiple tanks' progress. The one hour is too short to cover an entire tanks restoration.

B. If they actually finished a tanks. I waited the entire Panther episode to see a finished Panther, but no dice. KInd of like looking forward to christmas and then finding out santa isn't real.

I saw the M18 one the other day- it was "Ok". Nice to see it drive and there was some nice reference photography scattered through it.
It's a decent show but I won't worry if I miss any more.

Was it the one on the M-10 tank killer, where they actually found the driver of that particular tank? they should have milked that man. They could have surprised him, told him it was his old tank, had his reaction, had him relate something to it, they could have done so much more with that episode.

I'd love to know what happened to that one T-34 they fished out of a lake in Russia. That has all the earmarks of a great episode, dont you think?

I thought the shows were great. What I don't think any of us realized till seeing a show like that is how freakin' HEAVY everything is on a tank. How the hell did our guys maintain those monsters out in the field with limited equipment and people shooting at them? Amazing.

The comet episode was very nice because it showed the suspension the comet uses which i thought was interesting.
