I have to agree with Jim for my fav.. you cant win a war without a Holy Hand Grenade. Monty Python is timeless. My close seconds though are Stripes and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

The best stomach achers....
Monty Python. You can´t compete with that. Life of Brian is also the best film about Jesus ever made. It strikes right to the point. Think about the situation that you are being told that you are the son of God and your destiny is to die on a cross for the sins of all people...not everybody´s cup of tea. I bet Jesus wasn´t willing to do or understand that, neither was Brian. He never realized what was going on...hilarious. Just hilarious.
And the whole set of Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker films, especially Airplane!, Top Secret and the Naked Gun series...

Since some of us applied CPR on this post, I'm no longer ashamed to drop in so late....
I like watching the Brittish humor, so Fawlty Towers, The Monty Python movies and a Fish called Wanda (great how Kevin Kline acted !) are great movies for me, but there's another:
GROUNDHOG DAY.......damn good movie. I just love Bill Murray.

I forgot about Mr. Brooks and Bill Muray. Oh my God these are also comic legends. Let me also mention Bruce Willis, I love The Last Boy Scout. For some reason this man usually can bring comedy into almost any action movie.

Just found this thread and thought it was quite interesting. My votes would be for :
1. It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
2. Raising Arizona
3. O Brother Where Art Thou
4. Blazing Saddles
Just to name a few that come to mind instantly

I'm glad TurretToad resurrected this thread, I hadn't seen it before. I can't ever narrow a list like this down to a single entry but I'll give my top five.
1. Blazing Saddles. Hysterical, sure to offend just about everybody.
2. Young Frankenstein. Some of the greatest lines in movie history. "Ware wolf. There wolf, there castle." "What knockers! Oh thank you very much."
3. Airplane, the original. I recently saw some dog movie from the 50s starring Dana Andrews. It WAS airplane, right down to the line, "I guess I picked the wrong week to give up cigarettes."
4. Caddyshack. Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, how can you lose?
5. Monty Python. British humor at it's absolute BEST. Another great source of all time great lines. "What is the velocity of an airborne sparrow.?" "African or European?"

It still has to be Airplane! for me. (actually based on a film called Zero Hour). Leslie Neilsen, the King Of Deadpan
"Surely you can't be serious"
"I am serious and don't call me Shirley"
"Hospital, what is it?"
"It's a big building with doctors, but that's not important right now"
Caught it on Sky TV when I was at my girlfriend's a few weeks back. Still cracks me up

Zero Hour, that was the name of the movie I saw. I suppose it wasn't a dog for it's time, but it was hysterical watching it after seeing Airplane so many times and knowing what line was coming next.

"Monty Python and the Holy Grail" is still by far the funniest thing I have ever seen. I'm a sucker for English humor.

Swinging back to English humor - while the movie version of "Bean" wasn't as funny, I love the little series of "Mr. Bean" skits that Rowan Atkinson does. He's fantastic! Like Benny Hill, there's no one else like him...

Rowan Atkinson did some of the funniest stand-up I have ever seen in my life!

I would have to say Porky's and the greatest Animal House. I guess living Animal House inreality might have something to do with it, but even 20 years later and seeing it umpteen times still gets a chuckle out of me.

Have you guys heard of Billy Connelly
He actually had a VERY short lived series on American TV. Lasted about four episodes as I recall. I also saw him on HBO once. I remember one bit about "how do you shag a sheep" that brought teers to my eyes. Can't imagine what it did to the sheep.

BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE - A great piece of fiction. I laughed my butt of at the BS being stated as fact. Definitely NOT a documentary more a MOCKumentary.
