Cheers Frank. I went in really expecting nothing, but at best hoping for Best German Vehicle. When they annouced that the IV E had won the best German, i was so excited that it was my son who said "dad, they called you name again, Imagine my surprise when I saw it was for BOS! :-)

Well, Al some of us were disappointed you weren't there.

Seeing that they did allow pre 20th century figures in, I, too, am disappointed. Maybe I should have just assumed my stuff would still be acceptable and gone with one of my travelling buddies who had pre-20th century figures, too. That ol' don't ask, don;t tell policy.

Following are quotes taken from the official AMPS rules:

Quoted Text

Category IX - Figures - 1899 to the present (three levels)

Category IX is limited to figures relating to either troops who crew AFVs and Ordnance, support AFV's and Ordnance or serve alongside AFV's and Ordnance. Therefore, any ground force troops from the 20th century may be entered. No figures from before 1899 may be entered. Figures from other branches of the armed forces may be entered if a case can be made for them supporting AFVs or Ordnance, for example, Landing Craft crews could be entered. The burden of proof is on the modeler.

WOW! I wasn't even aware of these rules. Actually, the figures I entered last year and won medals for wouldn't have qualified this year. IMO, these rules really stink. I didn't enter anything this year because I didn't have any new models ready but I guess that even if I had something ready I wouldn't have been able to enter it. Looks like I may not be entering anything next year either. None of my subjects deal with AFVs and/or Ordnance. Too bad.

Congrats on winning the top honor. It's a great looking build.

Wish I could have been there.

In the past, they specifically allowed figures from all eras, Their best figure last year was Dan Capuano's officer of the Zulu wars and in 2003, I took a special "Best Andrea" with a couple 18th century Iroquois.
