Just heard this shocking news and to prove that it isnt a bogus rumour, its all over the front page of the Australian and New Zealand papers.

Feel very gutted about it actually. He was certainly an Australian icon.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Being a father of a kid, my heart really goes out to his young kids.

Update 1: My gosh.....wikipedia has already been updated with his biography.

Crikey!

My kids grew up on Steve Irvin's croc adventures. I have to admit I enjoyed his flat out style.

He will be missed. God's speed Steve -

My family and I are very sad about this news, as we liked to watch him very much.

He will be missed.

It is shocking and sad news - I guess the only small consolation for his family is that he died doing what he loved most. I admired his guts and his ability to handle some of the most dangerous creatures (apart from humans, who are the most dangerous species...) on the planet.

From what i heard, it was pretty quick, and mostly painless...Well, as painless as a stingray barb piercing your heart can be, but I can think of a whole lot ofother ways to die that would suck worse.
