American Civil War - either the Battle of Antietam or the Battle of Gettysburg with the emphasis, or even the whole story on The Iron Brigade. And done right, none of this Ted Turner nonsense.

The live of Hans Urlich Rudel with emphesis on his wartime exploits.
Since money appears to be no object, I'll see about either replicating 1:1 or buying and restoring any remaining Stukas so I can at least have a squadron. (I know, I know only 2 or 3 exist and none fly....that's why I said replicate) maybe have to be extrodinary cgi effects?
Cheers,

What nonsense would that be mate? You got me really curious now....lol!
I'd like to three films one 2 part as Battle of Coral Sea and Midway..... And the other would be about Arleigh A. Burke and his destroyer squadron 23 The Little Beavers. I'd do them right AND true to what really happened, so it would take plenty of computer work for ships and aircrafts. Wouldn't mind to do one about VP-33 and the Black Cats either though....

Any of the battles that took place in the Leyte Gulf during October of 1944, especially Surigao Strait.

Seelow Heights. Last gasp of the German defensesstarting with the build up to the execution of the plans.. a little of the politics on the Russian side of who gets the nod to take Berlin, but no love story, hollywood leading ladies.. just a battle story.

I’d like to see a more modern war movie or two. There are some short wars that have been forgotten during the 80’s that should be on film, such as the Invasion of Granada, Panama or even something on the Marines in Lebanon. I’d also like to follow how they did the Black Hawk Down movie, using the real soldiers that were there for the stories, timeline, and accounts. I’d also like to use actors that the public is not all that familiar with.

The Schweinfurt-Regensburg operation of 17 August 1943. A prime example of SNAFU in wartime.

Like Joe said, movies about Grenada, Panama, or the Cold War in general. The close calls, the firefights that erupted along the DMZ...It was a tenuous period for those of us who were there and everyone else as far as that goes. I'd like to see a movie about the Falklands. How about the invasion of Afghanistan from the Russian perspective?

For the history buffs in the USA, I would like to see a movie with the
subject being The Battle of Breed's Hill (mistakenly called Bunker Hill).
at the start of the Revolutionary War. Lexington/Concord could be a part
of it as well. Or not.

The Laconia Incident.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laconia_incident
By a non Hollywood studio. If you run true to the incident its clear why an independent studio is necessary in my opinion.
Producer/director Peter Jackson
Special effects Weta Studios
Special consultant Wolfgang Petersen
Full size U Boat built just like in Das Boot
U Boat commander Ed Harris?
Admiral Donitz Bruce Willis?

An interesting movie that would make about the Laconia Incident.
My first to movies (I'd do a string of them if possible) would be bio pics on opposite sides of the war, one about Michael Wittman and another about Chesty Puller. I enjoy seeing bio's made into movies but I'd like mine to be more realism and less Hollywood. The actions of many people are far more dramatic when shown in a realistic sense, some exploits just don't need to be overdramatized to have an impact. Plus I enjoy learning about what makes leaders tick.
Another movie I'd love to do would be about the Chosin Reservoir, to show how really brutal the conditions were.

Well, I could start a debate about the late War of the Rebellion, but this subject is likely not the one to do it in. Let's just say that Ted Turner's version of history bears little resemblence to the facts.

since I'm a modern guy, there's a few battles from OIF and OEF that come to mind.
1) Operation Anaconda. Huge battle, starts off with a friendly fire incident, the crash landing of a Chinook on the top of Takar Ghur, infantry troops from 10th Mtn and 101st in constant contact.
2) Thunder Run into Baghdad.
3) Battle of Fallujah. I just finished reading No True Glory. Awesome book about teh hell the Marines went through with that city.

A remake of Pearl Harbor which include the love triangle! :-) joke!
Seriously, here are some:
1.) The fall of Bataan and Corregidor (though a movie wil be up soon entitled "Beast of Bataan")
2.) Yum-Kippur war with the massive tank vs tank battle, or the cut and thrust at the Jiradi Pass.
3.) Battle of Tirad Pass (Fil-Am war)
4.) Ancient war movie like Genghis Khan
5.) Not really in history but a movie version, page by page of Red Storm Rising

Not really combat - the aftermath of Pearl Harbor and the heroics of the hard hat divers on the wrecks, trying to recover the dead and re-float the fleet. the film could then go into the history of the ship post Pearl Harbor.
**On second thought - not really feature length movie fair - too technical perhaps the History Channel could do a multi-part series on the ships at Pearl and their return from the dead....Just a thought.

YES! I've been saying that for years. But Clancy will not agree to it. His reasons were that the Cold War was over and it's time to move on.... C'mon Tom, there's been enough adapted from the terrorist angles, let's go back to a moment in history...even if it is a..what if.
In that same genre...Flight of the Old Dog.

[ Red Storm Rising
Man, my ship (USS Wainwright CG28) was heading out to the Persian gulf to deal with the aftermath of the USS Stark incident . Does anyone remember that? I never hear that being brought up anymore, not after the USS Cole.......anyway..
One of the guys in my division was reading Red Storm Rising, an in it the USS Wainwright is sunk in a really wicked battle with (If I recall correctly) no survivors. This guy went around and showed this part of the book to everyone, and had a large chunk of our crew convinced this was an omen that we were all gonna die.
Of course, the Wainwright went on to be used by the Navy for target practice in 2002 before being sunk off the east coast, but that guy had all of us convinced we were headed for disaster.

Maybe not a fav for Americans but I'd like to see a movie leading up to and events after the Atoms bombs fell on the Japanese. There are some good journals out there by residents of the two cities that tell a frightening tale.
Nothing political, but not pulling the punches either.
Others though:
Okinawa
Kursk
Fall of Berlin. From the top decisions down to the grunts in the streets. I the desperation, futility, ugliness and massive loss of life on both sides fighting for that city has gone largely unnoticed or even documented.

The Italian Campaign – the veterans I’ve managed to speak to, spoke of a co-operation between allied forces Hollywood seems to want to ignore.
The Artic convoys – my Dad served on a Destroyer doing these trips and even if you made it into the sea in one piece, shock & hypothermia could kill in a matter of minutes.
The MTB war – these guys took the fight to the enemy, and in wooden boats.
RAF Bomber Command during WW2 as seen by the crew – Bomber Command suffered 60+% loss in aircrews (70 odd thousand), more than any other British service and these same aircrews NEVER received a campaign medal.
Although the Lancaster was a great aircraft, getting out of one in an emergency was not easy. Add to this that most of the crew could not wear their chutes while at their assigned station. Also only something like 10% of aircrews managed to escape from stricken Lancasters (30% for Halifaxes).
