I was building a covered dummy tank for my dio using a Sherman shaped master build out of plasticard and I wanted to cover it with silk.

I used superglue to stick the silk to the master and it worked like a charm, but .... I don’t like it in that way that the edges of the silk don't look convincing to me, so I nee do remove the silk from the master. But how.

I tried to gently cut it apart using a fresh clean scalpel, bit that dos not seem to work without damaging the master to much.

Is there a method for softening the superglue?

The active ingredient is acetone. If you let it sit on the plastic for a long period of time, it could.
Just dab the area with a "q-tip" and prod it with somthing like a tooth pick to remove the affected area, piece, etc.. Than wipe clean.
It will remove paint and decals too.

Use nail polish remover.

Some nailpolish removers do not contain acetone now so be careful of what you buy. I got a bottle of acetone (technical) from the chemist at twice the amount for half the price. Also beware it does eat plastic and resin real quick.
