Hmm... i'd go for the dark yellow scheme...

But since you've already pre-shaded it matt black. Maybe sticking to German Grey would be nicer..

Hi there... nice touch with that extra rope by the side of that pink panther. I got that kit and it's not yet opened. So I'll be keeping a look out on your progress and maybe i'll get a chance to see it down at the competition. How is the build? also, what PE set did you use?

And funny the way you masked your phantom. I always thought aircrafts didn't have that straight, hard-edge camos.

thanks umustb,
the PE set is Eduard, they stopped selling that set now and have a newer set out. there were a few problems with the old set: the chains to the smoke dischargers were almost impossible to attach, (Eduard changed that in the new set) and there were a few tie down straps that was just too short. luckily i test fitted first

the phantom is built OOTB according to the instructions. it's taken me forever because it's a very old kit. it's a luftwaffe f4f and it's supposed to be 'splinter' camouflage. not sure if i got it right honestly, but the big phantom reference book in Borders is just too expensive for me to buy

the rope was the trickiest bit, it's my first attempt at scratchbuilding something. i used cotton string bought from Spotlight for my work. (i use the string to tie my bassoon reeds which i make myself). the string just doesn't want to be wound so small and keep still, so i jigged up 3 toothpicks, stuck it to a styrofoam board and tied a few loops of string around the toothpicks. next was lots and lots of watered down white glue to hold the shape. took me 4 days to get it right.

come on guys, post more pics, build more kits

hi there swingbowler,
i did some online googling and found this site on your build (f4f phantom)
http://www.largescaleplanes.com/articles/DrMenelaosSkourtopoulos/f4f/f4f.html

a lot of history, blar blar but the writer has a detailed review of his 1/32 F4F Phantom. he writes about the paints used etc... might come in handy.

here's a picture of my latest build... not really complete (detail painting + decals + weathering not done). but comments welcomed. Camoflauge is done freehand. I'm still learning a lot about masking, but because of the uneven surface of the tanks, it makes it rather difficult.. if you guys got any suggestions, please share..

Nice work guys. I'm currently working on 1:32 Zeros... detail can be found here

http://aircraft.armorama.com/forums/78880&page=1

Not taking up the competition as i just got back into this hobby after almost a 20 yrs break... used to be into AFVs. This is my 1st warbird after 20 yrs. Next project will be Tamiya 1:32 F16 CJ Block 50... or maybe a hellcat or Cosair... if i can get hem in 1:32 first. I bought my F16 at a 20% discount from Great Spore Sale at $150.... best buy to me.

Keep on building guys

I have a new interest, previously I am doing a lot of german tanks, but now I am collecting and doing Russian tanks (WW2 and modern), in my bench I am doing a T-55, T-72,and JS-3 I already finish a SU-122, SU-150, KV-1 and KV-2 all are 1/35 scale. Some says zvezda and Trumpeter are crap , but as for me it is okay as long as you have the passion and patience you can create a good model.
Will post my collection once it is ready.

Do you guys usually apply the paint when everything are fixed up? It looks like you will had a hard time painting the wheels again. For me i usually paint along the way in the building process and had a box with little partition for small painted item that will be affix when the main painting are done.
