Where would you find good reference material on something like this? Which publishers have good reference books that usually have drawings and such?

You would just have to keep searching using search engines on the internet as well as emailing anybody and everybody who you think may have any information on it.

There are no books that are a one stop shop for this type of thing.

I wish I could do something like this one day.

With practice you will be able to do this and more both by kit bashing (using a readily availiable kit as a base) and starting from scratch as well. I have only been modeling for 4 years now and I think I can do some of these reasonably well now but I am still learning new techneques as well.

If it had tracks I would say he had done one for sure but as this one has wheels I'd bet he has not done one :-)

Ooooooh!!!!! ........do my eyes deceive me
...Do you really understand what you are asking??? ---------exposing the masses (well --a few) :-) :-) ---to the""FORCE /Dark-side""-----you could be "excomunicated "from here--or even "sent to coventry"--for even thinking about it ..
This is not in the "modern idiom ".....no AM - -no -PE -......pure plastic sheet and rods - --with a bit of molding - ---a bit of simplification ---WOW!!!---is it possible
It will never come to fruition ---WHY??----because it is not "the done thing"--to go back to BASICS--- reading the plan----measuring ---scribing --cutting ----filing---fitting ---gluing---compounded with frustration when it don't fit ----or it breaks on the last cut---
DO YOU WANT to have this on your concience
for the rest of your life
Yes!!!!!-----well OK ---i'M -""IN"" .........in fact ...if there are enough out there willing to come to the "dark-side"...I have a little box of bits that can be used to set up . :-) :-) :-) --
YEP ..its a recovery vehicle ---(so thats killed it dead )
See now its down the "tubes"--or is it enough to generate some enthusiasm -------:| ----(Can see me being chastised for even offering )
Stand up and be counted --Oh Yee of Little ""FORCE"" ----post or be damned ---
"IN "-or "OUT"
Do you want to try this ..(1997- from pics--pre AA ...{and bits work})

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Kind of like the quiet before the storm!!

As for myself, I've ordered the plastic and tools I need and once I get them I'll be ready to start as soon as Cliff is ready. Hope we have enough people taking part in this.

My friend I'd do it even if it was just you and me.

As JRatz pointed out there are other tools/Methods that others use but I will show just what tools & methods I personally use. This does not mean they will be the best but only how I do it.

Cheers
Cliff

PS> Guys let me know what GMC kit you all got and then I will build to suit whichever kit there is more of as I have both the Italeri as well as the Tamiya kit now.

Thanks Cliff ..

As for the kit, I'll be using Tamiya's. By the way, should I build the chassis and cab and have them ready before we start or will there be changes made to them.

Also, do you have any general pics of the interior layout. I'd like to try and build an interior for it.

Regards
Hisham

To whom it may concern !
Cliff/Hisham etc etc, Can I join this rowdy rabble ?.
I've even brought my first kit in yonks (I'll be using the Italeri Hard Cab), I promise I'll be good and sit in the corner and do my homework :-) .
Should be yet another steep learning curve for me (playing with those microscopic 1/35th bits'n'pieces - and using a kit to).
I anticipate fun and merriment for all. .

Guys anyone can join so welcome Casper I know I won't have to show you much LOL :-) . The major difference Roger between the Italeri and the Tamiya will be in the floor and how it mounts to the chassis.

The models can be made to cab and chassis stage of construction but please be aware that sometimes it is easier to work with if it does not have the wheels firmly attached so they can be removed/added if need be.

Unfortunately I know almost nothing about this particular type of body interior. I do have one photo showing a dentist surgery taken from the rear with the door open so I will find this and post it for you but apart from that no photo's even though I have been looking for years

Cheers

Slight change of plans, I'll have to excuse myself from this class (dropping out).
Have decided to pack away the modelling equip for a while (time for a break).
Best of luck to all on their adventure into the world of "real"modelling.

Cliff

I have obtained Italeri 6271 - 2 1/2 ton 6x6 truck as 203 (5?) is OOP. It appears to have a different roof line and windscreen setup than the images you posted of the surgical vehicle. Just adds to the challenge :-) .

I am heading off to Southport for work on Monday and back on 29 April ( the day our local comp starts ) Just have to get the styrene strip while I am away as I got the sheet when I got the kit.

So I should be ready round mid-May.

Brian
