Just to let all our members know that Mike Loewen aka merkava8 was one of the CDN troops badly wounded in a suicide attack. He had started a thread in the CDN forum saying "Hi" from KAF.
Link to thread. There are some links to news stories at the bottom.
I'm sure I speak for all in wishing him well and a speedy get well.

My sincere thoughts and wishes to Mike for a speedy recovery and of course to his family that they may find some peace and thanks that the news was not worse.

Jeez that's bad news. I just hope that the bonemenders can pull out all the aces and do a good job for him.
EDIT:(and slightly off topic) just looked at the same story on a Canadian website that I frequent, and apparently all the coalition troops out there have been ordered to haul down their own colours and fly the Afghan flag, so these guys are fighting and getting hurt under someone elses flag.
The Canadian vets (especially the Pats) on this other site are urging their government to pull their troops out if they don't tell a certain US Major-General where to stick his flagpole.

I found a little more info at globeandmail.com
Quote: "MCpl. Loewen, who was commanding the light-armoured vehicle, was exposed through the turret along with the other injured soldiers who mostly manned gun positions.
"He has injuries around his elbow and wrist," Dr. Taylor said. "The final outcome won't be known for some time to come. But he's stable otherwise." "end quote.
