Need to call it "The Bone Yard". That's what we refer to the places where we pick apart our tanks. :-)

Sounds good, we'd all have to remember to chaeck it from time to time.

This brings to mind another question, has anyone heard how Jim's move is going?

sounds like a great Idea, how would it be set up as another forum or just another sub-category in each of the existing forums. If the the latter I think it would be easier.

Be easiest to just post a message to the forum with a header like:
Need Tamiya T-34 Part
Then something like: "I need the loader's hatch for a Tamiya T-34 please e-mail me if you have one available."

Once the parts request is filled, the moderator can lock the topic. Moderators have this option at the bottom of threads in which they moderate. Locking a topic means no more posts can be made. That way people won't continue to offer parts to someone who already has acquired it.

I think this is a great idea. If I may add a second idea to it............is there some way that we could create a library of instruction sheets? For years I have kept my completed kits' instruction sheets in a manilla folder in case somebody needed one. Just a thought.

I keep mine in a 3-ring binder filled with those top loading document protectors. I have a big 3" binder for my armor kits, and slightly smaller ones for aircraft/sci-fi and cars/boats. I also keep my extra decals in a separate binder too and use those page dividers to separate the various types of decals (by scale and type of kit).

I've got a ton of spare parts and about 2 dozen instruction sheets (I need to build more), Of course, we can also scan sheets from out stash if needed. I'm always willing to help.
Great idea. Count me in.

This is a very good Idea
You can count me in
I really got a sparebox with a head on it similar to the Mt. Everest but there are also still parts that I need. Great concept
keep me updated about this

Excellent idea. I have just got a scanner, and could scan my instruction sheets. We could build a pretty good database of instructions. Plus I have a ton of left over decals, always get 2 options and can only use one. And decals would be so easy and cheap to mail to each other. Plus i don't see why we shouldn't open it up to kits as well. I know I have 3 Corsairs sitting in my closet.

I think scanning of instuctions is a nice Idea but its better kept off site. If someone needs a copy he's only a posting away from help. can't imagine the cost of this site but keeping excess data would I think be a waste. I'm currently try to come up with a system for my pics and instructions a well as scanned articles. what I have found is it's best to back up to a CD-R and save to CD-RW. I am now in the process of savingeverything to diskk and only having a temp folders which get copied at the end of each week. My two cents about saving stuff for sharing and referencing.

Count me in! I would love to help someone out if I could. We could start our own e-bay type thing for kits and the like, but parts and instructions could be mailed for free or for the price of shipping.

Same same. Although, my spares box is quite small. However, I recently 'inherited' quite a number of instruction sheets from my officemate. I also keep the instruction sheets of my own kits in a folder.

DMD, I talked to Jim about this, citing you as the idea behind it, and he thought it was a good idea, but it might not be a big enough idea to have a forum of it's own. So he did added it to the groups under the "Buy, Sell, or Trade forum" and changed the name to "Searching For, Buy, Sell, or Trade". If anyone needs a part, now, go to the "Searching For, Buy, Sell, or Trade Forum" and start your topic with "Wanted: Parts." As for the instructions gallery, it also is a good idea, but the instructions I have alone would take up a Gig or two of space on a server that is already having bandwidth problems. It might have to wait until after Jim finds a fix for the current problems or changes servers. But I too think it is something that would do us all some good.

I don't know how I missed this thread, but count me in, also.
I've got lots of spares/extras for Panger III's and IV's. (gotta love DML/Dragon kits!)
Plus some Sherman parts. Plus odds and ends of unused PE.
And I always keep my old instructions.
