Thin red line is another ive gotta stand up for, i thought it was fantastic,
The only thing I liked about Thin Red Line was the part where Woody Harelson blew off his weiner with a hand grenade. That at least off set the crapy poetry. :-)

Thin Red Line (The Pacific Campaign as travelogue)
Battle of the Bulge (Operation Rolling Oil Drum)
Custer of the West (Robert Shaw as Custer

fighting the Sioux in the desert

)
Windtalkers (CG planes defeat Japan, one island at a time.)
Green Berets (Watch the sun set in the east.)
Red Dawn (Yah, like that plot made any tactical sense.)
Last Samurai (White guy with too many teeth survives when all the not white guys die.)

IMHO, it HAS to be "The Boys in Company C". Supposed to be a serious war flick, should be in the comedy of errors section. It has some redeeming features like the gunny, but that's about it. And let's not forget "Heartbreak Ridge"

We musn't forget about the Dirty Dozen sequels. The original was top notch but the others were horrible.

U571 and Battle of the Bulge were, IMO, awful. A waste of time watching them.

'The Deerhunter' rates as my worst war-themed film - so boring I walked out.

LMAO !!!! :-)
As a side note, I'm waiting on the movie "Jarhead" to come out on DVD. Interesting to see how well war and rap music go together.

I have to mention a couple of contenders.
1. Anzio - Robert Mitchum armed for the most part with a typewriter being a better strategist than the combined General Staff and better soldier than the rest of the army put together.
2. Apocalypse Now - Absolute rubbish.

Apocalypse Now
SOOOO BORING
Battle Of the Bulge
Desert? Who was the military advisor for that movie!? Whoever was should be brought into a room full of big guys and slapped around for a good five minutes!
Pearl Harbor
WAY too long. Good action scenes, but terrible story line. I have a theory that the Mitchell raid was added so that the American public wouldn't think we lost the war.
There are more but I can't remember them...... I probably just don't want to...

Hate to call out a Duke film, but The Green Berets was just crap.. Pearl Harbor was a complete and utter waste of celluloid..

Hi, Looking at it from the reality of war I would have to say all the war moives ever made and all that will ever be made are the worse. And this isn't the fault of the movie makers, as real war is something that just cannot be re-created, no matter how realistic the makers try to do it. It's just something that can not be done. I think that this is the main reason I no longer get all excited about going to see the latest 'war' movie to come out anymore. It's a waste of time and money.
Take care, Larry

Has to be "Battle of the Bulge".
I saw U-571, but I just kinda blow it off -- Battle of the Bulge is too rotten to ignore.
Never saw Pearl Harbor, probably because reviews were so bad & I was very tired of Bennifer & al that ...

Even more strange is that the film was based on a book by the famous Welsh broadcaster Wynford Vaughan Thomas on his experiences at Anzio as a war correspondent. His voice was very distinctively Welsh, unlike Bob Mitchum........

Ok,
Just saw a movie that probably runs up thier as a c**p movie. It is with Richard Pryor, called the "Black Brigade" if im correct. Anyone seen it ?????????? Dont get me wrong, I love Richard Pryor, but this bit the dust.
I agree with others regarding the "thin red line and Pearl Harbor". Think Tora tora tora is better by the way.
