I just received the December 2002 issue of FineScale Modeler and there is a nice article on scratchbuilding an M8 ammo trailer and a towing pintle hitch. Shermaholics and other builders of WWII U.S. armor will want to make a few of these.

The article includes some plans and diagrams, as well as build photos to help you along. It looks to me like a good first project.

For those looking for something a little more challenging, there is an article on kitbashing a DML T-34/85 with a scratchbuilt turret holding an ICM Soviet 100mm AT gun to make an Egyptian T-34 conversion from the 1970s.

If you're looking for the issue at the newsstand, it's the "B-52 turns 50" issue.

I just received my copy too, and have "scratch build" dreams all in my head.

I still haven't gotten my issue yet. It seems like it takes longer and longer each month...

Matt, where do you live? I've seen the ship several times on the waterfront down at Norfolk Naval Base. The ship I was on was on the same pier a couple of times.
