This looks pretty bad. Katrina is now Cat 5 and headed for NOLA. I am praying for the best but this may be the worst case scenario the Big Easy has been worrying about for a hundred years.

Stay safe Armorama gulf coasters.

Ditto. This thing looks really nasty!

And I have been through a few hurricanes myself.

They're saying this could be one of the top 4 storms in recorded history. It's scary just seeing the satellite images on TV, and I live far away from it. I feel for those poor people in it's path. May God look out for them.

After having come through Katrina as a Cat1, and the elec. power just coming on a few hours ago, I can only hope and pray for all those that will be affected by this near unprecidented storm.

On a note, like a few others, I have been through a few hurricanes in the past. Katrina hit us as a Cat1 about 10 miles south of us here on the beach. The closet a hurricane has come to us here in Fort Lauderdale. In 40 years of life, I have never felt as scared as I did Thursday evening as the condo we live in, on the 12th floor, began to rock. Indeed, the building was swaying. It is scary! I could not imagine what a Cat5 is capable of.

God have mercy on all the folks there.

We thank you guys and gals for ya'll concern. Katrina came and went. I live in Lafayette, LA but she even got us a little high wind and rain. I was watching the news, it seem people took shelter in the USS Alabama. After Katrina hit Mobile, they discovered that the ship lurks about one inch out of her spot. Now that a feat to be topped.

From what I hear it could be a very long time before we hear from some people down there.
It appears power could be out for a month.
Hopefully all are members and there families are alright.

Its about to hit us here in Pa soon. I know it won’t be anywhere near as bad here but its still supposed to be pretty nasty.

With the levy break in NO things aren't looking good for the foreseeable future. When they get the breach fixed they still have to get the damaged pumps up and running. I think things are going to get worse instead of better down there.

I've been absolutely stuck on Fox News for the last 36 hours, and the really bad news (as Shaun said) is that things are getting much worse - particularly in New Orleans..

My thoughts go out to any of you in the affected area...Jim
