I've seen articles in Armorama where they use Mac Donald's coffee caps, salad bowl covers, air guns, etc.. those guys are damn imaginative.

Styrofoam.

I've been saving up on them now for dios. You can buy them from art shops (though a bit tad too expensive) or if you got a friend or relative buying some computer stuff or anything that comes with a styrofoam then you could take from them.

I remember seeing some rounded styrofoam base from Art Friend (art shop).

But I belive the styrofoam used are those with the foam being highly compressed (very much like those you find protecting computers, tv, in boxes). Making it very hard and not easily breakable. Is the one you got like that? Also, will you be able to use acrylic paints on them?

yup, its those styrofoam. They are acrylic paint friendly and also white glue friendly. Just do NOT use CA glue with it, it will melt the foam.

Yup.. the use of superglues on styrofoam will "melt" them. That was a mistake I did in primary school.. :-) Social Studies project.

Try spraying pylox on styrofoam and also while doing that, don't forget to pour thinner into one of those plastic disposable cups.

Ike, as I mentioned earlier, it does not have to be Pylox...Any brand will do...Pylox just happen to be the most common brand...It's strange that u can't find the spray...There's no hardware shop or paint shop near your home? Strange...

Pylox shd just be the base color. If u use Tamiya Spray throughout, very wasteful....Still must spray w/ matt Tamiya colors and add fine sand or static grass..Just the Pylox will look too shiny and artificial..

Erm Psyfool.. heh.. I think I didn't quite catch your answer.

Here's the breakdown:

Quoted Text

Pylox shd just be the base color.

So you're telling me I can use Pylox as a base colour. Roger

Using Tamiya spray for base colour isn't worth the $$ because I must still matt the basework and add details to it?
Does that mean when I use Pylox I don't have to add fine sand and grass?? (Confusing part)

Quoted Text

Just the Pylox will look too shiny and artificial..

Using Pylox will make the base look too shiny? Then shouldn't I use matt paints?

Apologies... could help if you can explain in detail

Oh.. the question again: Pylox can hold fine sand, static grass, gravel, etc... down to the base? I don't have to glue them on?? haha..
