Considering that costs more than the house I currently am paying a mortgage on - I'll pass! :-) :-) Name_1s_MUD

I was thinking the same thing. Do you think it is hollow inside, so I could sleep in it?

I could swear on a stack of bibles I replied to this thread.
Anyways at $250K each I could only afford 2 but since I need 4 I might as well not bid

It had better be, because I would want to be buried in it after spending +250k for that! :-)

The strangest thing just happened to me
Went to my bank, got a private talk with the manager to tell him I needed a loan.
I swear, I never met a friendlier guy. Right after I told him I wanted the money to buy an aircraft carrier, he even immediatly arranged security to protect me in the bank, he even ordered transportation for me, a nice white van with two personal drivers in white clothes.
They even gave me a special jacket with big straps to keep me warm!!.
Too bad with all the people running around for me I didn't get to ask the manager when I can go back to pick up the money.
Ooh well, I'll go back tomorrow. I'm sure he'll be happy to see his best client again so soon!!!

The seller is nuts. I don't care how long it took him or how many kits went into building it, it is not worth $250, 000. Some people just don't fully understand, we are only building and painting plastic and resin. It is not gold. If someone buys it, they will be even crazier than the seller.

Id rather buy a Rolls Royce
. Probably some museum or something might buy it. All I know is that the person selling it needs to be with those nice guys with the white van, that give you a comfy jacket.

Also considering the 19 years to make a model he is really going to need that jacket. :-)

So even if I had the 250K to burn, where the heck would I put it? I would need to build an addition to my house just so I could display it. Shouldn't this be in a museum of some sort?

my god.....take a look at the pics....amazing!
and I was thinking my 1/72 VIIC I received today was already huge :-)
I agree with what is said above....even if I had the money, where the hell to put it? I'd have to throw one of the couches out of my house to create room for this one :-)
Oh and IF I had so much money to spend on model kits, I'd probably burn it on 1:16 (RC) armor, RC subs, RC planes, RC warships etc etc...and just for fun I'd also buy some 1:35 armor, 1:32 aircraft and 1:350 warship kits :-)
I'm easily satisfied

Like I said in the other thread....this thing should be in the US Naval museum or the Smithsonian, for all to see, and not cooped up in buddy's house where no one can see it.

It looks pretty nice, but for that kind of money, I would want to inspect it first hand. If I could afford it, I guess that wouldn't be a problem. :-) Thinking along the thought of a museum, the EAA museum in Oshkosh, WI has a nice 1/72 scale model of either the Enterprise, Hornet or Yorktown, I forget which it is since I haven't been there for a couple years. It is a WW II carrier decked out with SBD's and such. It is very nice. Maybe they can afford a more modern version so we can all see it there.

I've got an idea!
Every Big-A member "invests" $ 36.75
$ 250000 / 6800 big-A members = $ 36.75
Then we start a campaign.
In this campaign, every members builds something.....so some people a aircraft, some build a part of the hangar etc etc.
Then we have a huge project, build by the Big-A, and we have a nice campaign, and ehmmm.....yeah....where to put it then? :-)
Just a thought :-)
I could also buy it myself and build it as entry for the flattops campaign

If only it was in 1/48 scale, I think I would of bought it. I'm sorry it might of took that guy 19 years to build, but it can be built in a lot less time. Them movie people build them like that in weeks, and if somebody pays that price, it will shock me, but they say there is one born every minute.

Maybe 1/72nd of what the U.S. Dept. of Defense (actually the U.S. Navy) paid for it waaaay back when.

Yeah, but for 1/72 of its original price you'd want it fully functioning. At least I would!

There are guys on the modelwarship net that say they'll build you one for a mere $100k. I think this guy is targeting a museum. I heard the Ft Stewart museum paid $100k for a 1/16th Bradley, so I guess that's where the guy gets his lofty price
Oh, it only scales out to be 15 feet long, but still where would you put it...in the garage for me
