I thought San Antonio was pretty nice - liked the river walk - when they finally gave us a Base Pass. The spring days got hot there - I remember a few Red Flag days in training where they wouldn't send us out there on the drill pads for formation or exercise.

LTC(P) Jeff Leiby, Armot, USAR
Started in ROTC at Tennessee, graduated from Ranger in 1974 as an ROTC cadet. Went to Armor basic and airborne school in 75/76.
Four years (76-79) in the Sportsman Paradise at Ft. Polk, LA in 1-40 Armor, Tank Plt LDR, Scout Plt Ldr and CO XO, then to Armor Advanced course at Ft. Knox,
Four fabulous year in West Germany, one year as S-4 of 1/11th ACR on the border 80-81), then tour at V Corps HQ in Frankfort (81-82). I then escaped back to an armor unit in Baumholder, 2-68 Armor (82-84) where I was battalion S-4, last commander of Combat Support Company (Scouts, Mortars, and Redeye MANPADS), and first commander of Delta Company (after reorganization). Finished my last active duty tour by begging a tour at the NTC (84-86). I was the S-2/3 of the NTC Support Battaliojn then moved to George AFB (86) as Ground Liaison Officer for the NTC (Now the USAF fighter jocks know how to eat donuts).
I'm now in the Army Reserve as Deputy Commander of the 2145th Garrison Support Unit (tFt. Benning). I got to go to Air Assault School at age 39 as part of the USAR augmentation to the 101st ABN DIV. Boy running in boots sucks when you get older Been called to active duty three times as a reservist, Desert Shield, Joint Endeavor and Joint Guardian. The reserves aren't what they used to be

Ok heres my info....
SFC Matthew Quiroz
enlisted 13 Apr 83 and began OSUT for 19D Cav Scout on 17 Aug 83.
Assigned to CSC 6/31 Inf Ft. Irwin CA as a gunner/ observer on a gun truck... ala M151 w/ M60. PCS move in Mar 85 to Ft. knox Ky with 5/73 Armor and HHC 194 Sep Armor BDE as a driver for the BDE S2...this job sucked.....PCS April 86 to Bamberg Germany with 2/2 ACR patrolling the border from Camp Hof. Great time here. Rotated back to the states and Ft. Carson CO in Apr 89' and attended sniper school shortly there after and back to Carson. Off to Recruiting in Atlanta in early 91' for a short stint which also sucked majorally....seems I wasn't cut out to interact with the public in that capacity... lol, Jump school in 92' with a follow on assignment to the 82D Airborne for 4 years as a Tank Commander on a Sheridan. Attended many schools while here, the most memorable being the Jumpmaster course. Best ride I have had.....dont care what anybody has to say.. From here once again back to Ft. Carson CO and a Section Sgt slot with a 10 Humvee Scout Platoon. After 3 years it was off to Ft. Benning GA for a 2 year stint as a Drill Sergeant, and then a 36 hour trip back to Ft. Carson (Gives you an idea of how bad I wanted out of the South) Currently assigned as a Scout Platoon Sergeant for a Bradley Platoon. If you have't guessed it yet, I like Colorado. With just a short time left before retirement I'm staying here. Great place to be.for me anyways. Hoping things go well for the E8 board. If I get picked up though it wil mean another 2 years in uniform......decisions, decisions, decisions... "Q"

Ok, fellas, here's the scoop on Hollowpoint:
Enlisted in 77, Basic at Fort Knox
AIT at the Defense Information School (DINFOS), Fort Ben Harrison, Indiana.
8 months with HQ, 32nd Army Air Defense Command in Darmstadt, FRG, then in-country transfer to 2nd Armored Division (Forward) in Garlstedt, FRG.
Returned state-side in 80, back to DINFOS for photojournalism course, then assigned to West Point just in time to see the first women graduate.
Re-upped for Fort Huachuca, Arizona, attended editor's course en route, and assigned to U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School's MI Magazine (81-85). Attended Inteligence Analyst Course (96B) and later NCO Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas.
In 85, assigned to 172nd Infantry Brigade (Separate) "Fishin' is the Mission" at Fort Richardson, Alaska, and was there for activation of the 6th Infantry Division (Light), aka "Arctic Ninjas" and "Screaming Hebrews" (because of our six-pointed star patch).
In 89, reassigned to Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Attended Basic NCO Course and PA Supervisor Course at Fort Ben, stayed at Leavenworth through the Gulf War, then "took the money and ran" in 92 when offered an early-out with separation benefits.
Returned to Wisconsin, joined the Guard, slotted as the 88M ammo chief of a M109 battery, but actually worked as an "NCO of all trades" doing training, NCOERs, commo, Combat Trains log section chief, UAs, etc.
Left Guard in 94 for a job as a Reserve Augmentee to Soldiers magazine, then became disgruntled with ARPERCEN jerking me around (plus I had a great gig as managing editor of my college newspaper) and severed all ties to Army in 95.
Worked in various jobs while attending college full-time, then, armed with a BS in Journalism, got a job as a correctional officer for the State of Wisconsin, 96-00.
In 2000, I was contacted by Fort Leavenworth offering me a job as the Command Information Officer...and that's where I am now. DINFOS moved to Fort Meade (when Uncle Ben's Rest Home was shut down), and I attended the Public Affairs Officer course there last summer.
Being an Army photojournalist is a great job -- you get to go everywhere, do everything, meet all sorts of interesting folks. Also, Dad was career Army (retired three years after I enlisted), so I lived all over the Army when I was a kid.
Now I'm a fat DA civilian with troopies young enough to be my kids... What's really great about coming back to the Army is re-uniting with some of the "kids" who used to work for me when I was a young NCO -- they're all successful Master Sergeants and Sergeants Major now. I like to think that I had something to do with their success.
