Hi...
my first attempt at a military vehicle...
WW2 Bedford QL.
Markings are ficticious.
Any views on accuracy would be most helpful.

Many thanks and Cheers
Peter

Thanks Roo...
Now its time for the Matador, so if you can dig out some Aussie markings I'd be most grateful.
Practice...practice...practice...lol.

Cheers

It looks accurate enough for me Pete, I tried painting a Matador ( a apicture of my model with 3.7" gun) - looked so strange even 'file wpb' rejected it twice! LOL

I've had a look through my references for the Matador but no Aussie stuff, hope SuperRoo can come up with something for you.

I'll look up my ref tonight and post them here tomorrow.

PS> are you doing the same view as the QL?

Hi Clff
yes a similar view but probably from the passenger side, rather than drivers side.

Thanks a million.

Cheers

Fast?
I think its because I’m on a roll...lol.

Seriously though I think its the medium.
Water based paints tend to allow for continued quick progress as it dries fast.
Oils tend to take an age to dry so quite often you end up waiting before continuing.
Also there is a little trick with an hair dryer for water paints. Because they are generally applied wet, they can continue to bleed/blend sometimes beyond the desired effect. Wafting a bit of air can “freeze” the action just where you need it.

Cheers

OK peter I have done my best.

First pic shows the layout just under the windscreen of a matador.( ignore the fact that the pic is off a jeep as they are setout the same)

Now starting with the RH bridge sign. 1/1 scale 8 inch diameter yellow circle with black 12 over 9 in it. (12 ton tractor, 9 ton gun)

rhs outter formation sign of 7 div.

rhs inner is the formation mark. The one I have pictured is to show the colors to you BUT the one for the truck has to be VERTICLE colors with red to the left and white 18 in it. Hope you can understand this?

Now truck serial number was normally on the cab doors just below the window . use a 6 number sequence of 996351.

this is a ficticious number so I leave it to you if you use it or not.

Formation mark red/blue 18, is for an antiaircraft unit of the 7th australian division as the Matadors were used to tow 3.7in anti aircraft guns.

Flitzer,
You should paint for the kits box arts. Maybe some company is watching you. (Dragon etc. etc.)
By the way, the painting looks great.
