I'd most likely return to my schooling - Physics and Astronomy. I still relax in the evenings keeping up with current Stellar Astronomy findings and String Theory. I like that as much as modeling...

Well aside from time for more training in work related subjects, (firearms, self defense, new and ever changing law updates) , I would probably do my best imitation of a man whore :-) I did not know that you guys in The Netherlands had shooting ranges? What are your laws like concerning gun ownership?

Go back to the old standbys, reading and collecting books, playing war games on the PC.

Hope this never happens though. I'm planning my retirement, only 20 years to go, and I plan to have my unbuilt stash for that.

Photography, metal detecting, fishing, making jewelry, reading, archery, more casino time (not necessarily in order), but let's hope it never comes to that.

Hmmmm.....Modeling is my "fall back" hobby. Competition shooting was my main hobby until a stroke and arthritic hips prevented me from competing.

I'm a SciFi nut, so I guess I'd read a lot more.

If modeling was no longer an option then things wouldn't have changed much for me as I am in a modeling rut anyway. :-) Nah, things aren't that bad. I can see the light at the end of this tunnel. As for my backup hobby...hmm...it would have to be video games, building computers, spoiling my cat, paintball, airsoft, reading books...Wait! I already do all these things. I guess I have nothing to worry about then. :-)

I onced had a second hobby, Dragracing. But in 2000 i became diabled and no longer can drive. I still own the car today, a 1981 camaro w/ 402 bb. w/ all the goodies. The car is called the "Steel Cowboy". Now i do have five children who pretty much followed me to the tracks and i'd hoped that someday one would get behind the wheel. Not so. Back to the question of a second hobby, well i'd love to get back racing again with someone behind the wheel. Boy i still can smell the nitro and burning rubber.

pretty much the same here, Dragracing is my second passion, and nice that you own the one car i love, I have a 77 Camaro that i bought back in high school that i have been working hard on. I have a pic in my profile.

My fall back would be recreational shooting. I love punching holes in targets with lead. It doesn't matter if I am shooting paper targets or executing a course of fire with pop-up targets. Its all good.

I'd find a way to keep on making them anyway, there aways been people that never bought model kits, and they have beautiful models to show for it. Like that guy that built them ships out of match sticks.

Like I got this convection oven, and the thermostat broke on it, and when I was working, I would just go buy another oven, but being disabled, it leaves me with different options.

So I got plenty of time now, so I took it apart to find, they got a piece that can't be glued, or buy a new one.
So I made a piece for it. Just like modeling, in a way. What they do is put this piece in the middle as a weak point. So when it breaks people will throw it away, when actually, everything is OK you just can't adjust the temperature. They can't make the thermostat any different, and it would last almost forever, and they don't want that, so they put this piece in there, so it will break after the warantee is over. Funny the tricks they use.

I looked it all over, and there is no other purpose for this piece, outside of keeping the thermostat out of your reach, to which it could of been mounted right next to the opening, and eliminate this piece all together. This way, if you don't fix it yourself, it will cost more then a new oven, which is around 100 dollars.

I used a little wood dowel about 11/2" long to fix it, which this is only temporary, until I get some resin and make a plastic one just like the one that was in there. I drilled a hole in the one end and used my hobby knife to cut the groove to slip over the knob on the thermostat, then I cut a little bow tie hole for the dial to fit into, so now it makes the spand, that the plastic piece once did.

I have been doing a lot of that around the house lately, getting out the little broken stuff, to see what is wrong, and see if I can make a part for it, to get it up and running again.

I would be on the river or lake, and up in the mountians. Outside of modeling I have always spent a lot of my time in the outdoors! I was raised that way and I still love it.

Cheers,

Garry

Finish brushing my property, stalk the wiley mountain trout, find the exact route the old logging railroads and flumes operated on in the national forest above town. Perfect my golf hack...I mean swing. :-) Read more.
Geeze, I don't have enough hours in the day to accomplish all that let alone sit still long enough to finish up the 3 kits I have going now!
Must try harder!

Cheers!

If I could not model any further, I would merely spend more time with my other hobbies. In my rapidly evaporating free time, I also enjoy the following pursuits:
-collecting camo uniforms and field gear
-bagpipes (I play them)
-hiking and back packing
-rock climbing and mountaineering
-nordic skiing
-mountain biking

Did I mention that I live less than 1 hour away from the Rocky Mountains?

Cheers - Dan
