Too bad, he was a funny "grumpy old man" (Sorry Dave, but BBC used your name for a program )

I've never heard of this guy until today but I am always saddened seeing good people depart prematurely.

Davy it is a real shame. John Peel was always good entertainment, I used to love reading his column in the Radio Times. He will be sadly missed.

Some of my earliest musical memories - John Peel and the Old Grey Whistle Test - introduced me to the rock music I still love today. He'll be missed.

He did more for music in his day, than most of those from today put together. I have a few peel sessions from fav bands at home .... brilliant listening to get a good raw sound and hear all the bands that I missed because of my, being born a decade too late for the music I love. Hes one name that wont be forgotten easily.

What a shame. At 65 your too young to die.
Heard it on Danish radio a few hours ago.

Yes he will be missed.
Just like Bob Harris he didn't bow to corporate pressure and played only what he liked or what his listeners mught like.
Many a band owe John Peel a great deal for giving them a break re: air time.
No it won't be the same without him.
Cheers
Peter
