That is when I can afford to do it! These are 1/8th scale Unlimited Hydroplanes. They have nitro powered 11 CC engines, and have an average speed of 60 MPH. Most of the boat models are scratch built and are built to exact dimentions as the original, just scaled down. The computition and thrill is there just like the full size boats. Only you dont get hirt when they crash, and crash they do! Most likely into another boat , or just catch to much wind and blow over. It is a lot of heart beating fun! Here is what they look like. (not me or my boat!)

Anyone else with other exiting hobbies ?

Cheers,

Garry

Pretty cool, Garry...Good pic's, too.
I dabble in a little RC Airplane building and flying myself, and building and flying model rockets...I dunno if that's exciting or not, but it makes me and my son happy!

The Hydro that I had, was on the slow side, 50 MPH. The record for this class is 89 MPH. The record speed for open hydro is 135 MPH, but I think that record was broke this summer!

I hear ya Kevin, when I got laid off my job I had to sell most of my boats. I only have one left now, and its not a hydro, its a flat bottom ski boat. Not a racer, but fun to play with! I still belong to the club, but I just go out to watch and help out. I'll have to wait till I can get a job to get me another boat. I do love the hobby though!
I also love my plastic modeling, so it will hold me till things change.

Cheers,
