Anyone remember the TV series Combat, with Vic Morrow as Sargent Saunders? This was my favorite show as a kid. Never missed an episode! And after it was over it was time to go to the nabor kids and play our combat. Awe the memeries! I can still hum the shows music to myself.
Anyone else old enough to remember this series ?

Cheers,

Garry

hey
I'm not that old (13) but i watched this show. Whenever I had the chance to watch it on the history channel, I always enjoyed watching it I don't really remember any episodes though(I think they replaced it with 12 o'clock High).

I watched it occasionally. The only thing I remember is my father going into fits of laughter when they went through groves of Eucalyptus trees. I take it it is not native to Europe but is in abundance in Southern California.

Yup, great show! Black and white, but more "shooting" scenes than you could shake a stick at. Amazing with all that shooting, how anyone seldom had to reload :-) :-) :-) .

With all the cable channels now available, is it on, on a regular basis anywhere as repeats? Thanks.

Oh yes, I remember Lt. Hanley, Cage, Littlejohn, Doc and of course the grim faced Sgt. Saunders. My dad and I watched it every Tues. nite. He was a WWII vet. I just remembered the name of the other guy, Kirby. I think he was the one with the BAR. I wonder what it would be like to see COMBAT now?

It was one of my favorite shows as a kid. The first season is now out on DVD and is definitely on my want list.

I loved this show -my favorite as a kid. I used to drive my father crazy asking, "Are those the good guys, are those the bad guys?" I thought the GI with the BAR was the coolest. Was that Cage or Kirby?

i remember watching them when i was 7-8 years old- loved the tv theme! maybe hollywood should remake them into big screen someday- with bigger explosions and blood splattered shots, of course- ala SPR.

Howdy Garry,

Do I remember the TV series "Combat!" !?!...........are you kidding?!...do Iraqi's poop in the desert?......is Preston North End the best futbol team in the world?...geeez.

The answer is a resounding Yes!
I can even call out a decent number of the episode's as well.
But one of the 'things' about the series that always stayed with me from the first (and I saw 'em the first time around), was the amount of times that Sgt. Saunder's got wounded. The guy must have had to take home his Purple Heart's in a wheelbarrow!!
I think he's been shot, blinded, burned, deafened, lost his memory, and just about every ailment known to man......

IT was KIrby. If I remember Cage was the the one who like to wear the beret and spoke French.

ha haaa,

After reading throught this thread the other day, I remembered that 'Combat!' was on cable here in Colorado....

I watched the episode (one of the newer 'colour' episodes) 'Headcount' today. Great episode, and the only episode where Sgt. Saunder's ever hands over his trusty Thompson (gives it to 'Little John' to watch over the german prisoner's).

Does anyone remember the episode where Sgt. Saunders gets both of his hands/arms burned??

Kevin, I guess I'm lucky then. Out here in Missouri, it's on Monday thru Friday. Showing 2 episodes each morning. They start around 8/8:30 AM. :-)
