I haven't done very much building since the end of July because of all the tropical storms we have had here in Florida. We survived Charley, Frances, and our members survived Ivan in the Pan Handle along with our members in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and northward. Now the eastern seaboard from Verso Beach up to the Carolinas are bracing for Jeanne. I hope this old house will stand another hit. Most of every body here in my community are boarded up and will be riding out the storm in their homes. Nobody is afraid now, only mad. The State has finally got everyones power back on from the last three storms just in time to be put off again by Jeanne. We have people who have not been able;e to get their homes repaired from damage from Charley and Frances and they predict that the weaken condition of these structures will collapse by the winds of this new storm. Evey day I hear of my neighbors coming home to find out that their roofs have collapsed and destroyed the contents and all their belongings. It looks like Mother Nature is trying to reclaim the entire state. In all my years I have never seen so many storms in one season. I only hope that this will not become the norm. Jeanne is expected to hit us (Ormond Beach), by mid Sunday.

Yeah, I watched Jeanne do a u-turn earlier this week and thought it looked like trouble. Ivan did a crazy Ivan and is now lying around in Texas raining all over everyone.
Hope everything works out okay for all of you Floridians. I know a bunch of "snow birds" from around here who are really wondering if they will have anything to stay in when they fly south for the winter...

Wish you all the luck Dave. My best friend had Ivan slam into Alabama 12 miles from his trailer. He went up to Birmingham so he's fine and I forgot to ask if he had gone back down to Mobile yet to survey damage.

Thanks guys I hope that we don't loose our power too soon. Good Ole FPL is not the greatest when it come to restoring power. I will be back as soon as I can. To all the other members in Jeanne's path take care.

Take as many best wishes as you need...
This year is a bad one.
Again keep your heads down and take care, all of you in the danger zone.
Very best wishes to you all.
Keep safe.

Yup Dave, here we go again. The last time 4 hurricanes have hit Florida in a single season was 1888! I guess 2004 is as good as any other year to at least match that record. Jeez! This is just one heck of a long summer.
We here in Broward county have been fairly lucky so far this year, but Jeanne, at this hour looks like she wants to share her blows with us this time.
We are just starting to get hit with the storm's squalls down here with many more to go. The big bummer for me right now is that I have to get my wife from her work at 3PM, just when they say the storm's winds and effects will be hitting our area. Her boss should have her head examined!
At least were I work they let us go home early today.
I'll see you all on the other side... again. (fingers crossed)

Good luck Ken. We are expecting to be hit sometimes around mid day Sunday. At least this one is moving faster than Frances. It should be over in a matter of hours instead of days.

This year has convinced me that as much as I would like to retire to Flordia, I know I wouldn't handle all the hurricanes, so now I am going to retire to Hawaii, and not care if I have to make ends meet by selling rusty nails to little old ladies at Home Depot.
I wish all yous guys down there the best of luck weathering another one.

We made it through another one. I must say that we here in southern Fla have dodged yet another bullet. Phew!
I hope our friends to the north of us are okay.

I've suggested it before....maybe you guys should all retire to Wigan....nothing happens there...well no hurricanes...no volcanos or earthquakes...and the beer's good...a pub on every corner.
And you can still get a job selling rusty nails to old ladies..
Glad you've all come through.
Still take care....
Best wishes

Well I'm back again. We got our power on at 10:30 local time today. WE are all ok. The house is still standing and no one was hurt. The Beach front properties got hit bad this time though. The sandy beach is all but gone and we have salt water on our street. First time for this to happen. We had some very high seas with Jeanne and a lot of people lost their homes and businesses here. There were only two deaths reported in our general area this time. It could always be worst I guess. But we have survived another one. The Atlantic Ocean looks good for now and there seems to be a chance for peace and quiet for the time being.
