Hi All,
I have just found this forum so here goes for the swingers that have been tossed across the Qhartermasters table at me.
General Service Medal 3 bars Northern Ireland(8 tours) Gulf (Iran/Iraq War) Kuwait (Hostilities after 1st Gulf War)
UN medal 2 Tours (figure 2 on the medal)
1st Gulf War Medal with roset
Accumalated Service medal (2 bars) Medal for 3 years operational service plus a bar for every further 3 years)
Queens Silver Jubilee 1977
LSGC (Long Service and Good Conduct Medal(Navy) (the Navy pays our wages!!!) for undetected crime!!
Liberation of Kuwait (Saudia Arabia)
Liberation of Kuwait (Kuwait)

Although being a Royal Marine I also obtained my para wings in 1974 and in 1989 I obtained my APJI wings( Assistant Parachute Jumping Instructor)

Sadly as to iterate on what has been said before the medals do not tell the whole story behind them.

Cheers Mike

Shouldn't that be 22 yrs undetected crime?

Maybe you can tell us the difference between RCHA and RCA, other than 1 group has rations on the hoof

Well, here we go kids, time for the military trivia lesson (exam to follow), so pay attention:

RCHA = Royal Canadian Horse Artillery - all the Regular regiments in the Canadian Forces
are listed as RCHA, and unfortunately we only have two left on the ORBAT.
1RCHA is based in Shilo, Manitoba; and 2RCHA is based in Petawawa, Ontario.

RCA = Royal Canadian Artillery - all the Reserve regiments/batteries in the Canadian
Forces are listed as RCA, and there are approximately three dozen field and air
defense batteries across Canada.

RALC = Regiment de L'Artillerie Legere du Canada - is the French Canadian Regiment
located in Valcartier, Quebec, 5RALC.

As well, there is a battery of artillery located at the Combat Arms School, located at Gagetown, New Brunswick.
One final note - 1AD Battery is equipped with the ADATS system in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Hope this helps clear the fog in your ground-pounders mind.

Then why was the SSM Battery (Honest Johns) attached to 1 Horse in Germany from the RCA...that's where the confusion started for me.

Hey, the Honest John's were way before my time. My late father would have probably known though, he served in Germany with the Fort Garry Horse (Armoured) from 1962-1965.
