Hi there
This isn't a spoof. A friend of a colleague from work has gone missing on a climbing holiday in Chamonix, France.
Blake Hartley is 25 years old and was last seen on the 8th of August.
Needless to say, his family are desperate for any information concerning Blake. If anyone can offer any help - be it details of climbing shops or clubs in the Chamonix area, or possible useful contacts, please visit the Website which has been set up.
Thank you.
Rowan

Hi Scott
Yes, posting on Armorama is a wild shot, but even the smallest lead could be the one which solves this mystery.
Cheers

I sure hope that Blake will turn up alive and well soon. Best wishes to you and his family who must be going through an unimaginable hell.

The very odd & somewhat scary thing about this post is that just this very day I finished reading my copy of "Between a Rock and a Hard Place"- the story of Aron Ralston, the climber who amputated his own arm after having been stuck in a Utah canyon for 6 days...
His family went to the same lengths to find him. Let's hope this works out under favorable conditions as well.

As a Moderator on another board (who has several members who live in France), I'll post up the link and request there as well if that's okay with you.
I figure the more out there who can contribute information, the better.
And having read the site myself, it won't hurt that we have a HUGE international collection of people on the other site as well since they don't know if he's still in France even.
Hope it helps some...

I know how you feel. My best friend lives in Mobile Alabama 12 miles from where Hurricane Ivan slammed in. He's a stubbron old boy too. He called a day later saying even he had sense enough to driveup into Birmingham before it hit. Doesn't know if his trailer is still there, he suspects it may have been washed away by storm surge though. I'll hope your friend turns up someplace safe and sound with an adventure to tell.

Hi Steve
It's great news that your mate got out safely. To be honest, although we Brits hear the news everyday, I doubt that many of us really understand how severe the conditions are in the face of a hurricane...
All the best
