I was just wondering if anyone of you have built a kit twice or more. I have built a SdKfz 223 before now I'm doing 2 SdKfz 222's.I've also done Pzkpfw II twice already built 3 versions of M113's. A fourth and fifth one is on the way by mail. I'm contemplating on building another Marder 2.

I'm also contemplating on repainting some of the kits that I've done a long time ago since the result then was quite embarassing compared to what I do these days.

Oh yea - Plan to do it again too. For some diorama's you need two kits.

There are a few kits like the LRDG and Deuce from Tamiya that are just too cool to build only once.

I built the Tammy 88 about three times, so far. Several M113s, M16 halftrack about three times...
Like Scott said some kits are too nice to build just once. And, if you save them long enough it is a good way to gauge how your skills have progressed.

I have never built the same kit twice. I don't know if I ever will.

The only kit I've built twice is the Airfix Sea Harrier. I built the second one after a year I built the first kit. Man! Now look how I improved!

Everytime I have a bad case of modeling blues I buy a small cheap kit and built it OOTB. No detailing, Just building and painting, Decals on it and some weathering. Usually The spirit for building comes back and I can work on more ambitious projects.
In this way I have ended up with 7 Finished Italeri Schwimmwagens, 4 Italeri Jeeps, I built the BMW with Side car several times and Since I`m fond of the PAK35 I have built it twice till now.

So yeah I can easily say that I have built some kits several times.

I have not built the same kit twice yet but i do have a lot of similar kits to do such as the 222 and 223.. the M8 and M20, 3 different variants of the U.S. Halftrack.

If it was a kit I enjoyed building I would prob not have any problem wanting to do it again as there are many things you can change from the paint scheme to the assorted gear or even try your hand at scratchbuilding extras or even (shutter) Photo etch...

though there are some kits I know I will never touch again... like the older version of Tamiya's 251.

right now my stash is too small to be buying duplicates.. i only have about 40 unbuilts laying around...

Hecks yeah, I've built the same kit twice-sometimes thrice...or more. Like the other guys said, sometimes you need more than one of the same kit, like a group of Sherman's with infantry for example...I've also compared kits that I built as a youngster to the same kits that I've built now as an old man to see the difference in my skills(sometimes good, sometimes bad!!).

And I plan on doing some more M978 , M113, Bradleys, T-55s, T-62s, Ural 4320, Chally 2 , Warrior, at least twice each.

Sure, I've built the Tamiya Abrams (both M1 and M1A1) several times as well as multiple variants of their M113 series and M151 series. I've built the different M60 variants they produce as well as used conversions to make my own variants.

Sure. I've done Tamiya's M4A3 twice. I've done the M-16 twice (once about 35 years ago!) and I plan to do Tamiya's King Tiger for the 2nd time this fall. I just started modeling again about a year ago and as I get better and learn new techniques I sometimes like to go back and build the same kit again. Usually when I do this the original build goes to one of my nieces/nephews. Cheers

With figures one often builds the same kits more than once... not such a bad thing...

You bet! When I was into aircraft modeling heavy , my favorites (still are!) were the F-4 Phantom and the A-4 Skyhawk in 1/48th scale. I have built six of each one, and still have several more in my stash!
Of course all the aftermarket decals and paint schemes are endless, so they are always different.
Like they say, once your hooked!

Cheers,

Garry

T-34s - more than a dozen 76s plus about half a dozen 85s. And I haven't finished yet

There are just so many variations that it's hard to stop. A bit like Shermanitis, but with less complicated suspensions.

Of course with the new Dragon T-34s there is the perfect excuse to build some more

I haven't built the same kit twice yet, but I do think that it may be a great gauge to see how your skills have improved.

Yup, sure did. But with different markings and paint schemes and tried to improve the detail of the models.

These include:
Tamiya Pz11, F (2)

Tamiya Pz1V D (2 plus one partially built)

Tamiya T-34 (8)

Tamiya Kv 1 and 2 (3)

Looks like the Dragon 251's will add further multiples.

Yes, I built 2 of my 6 Douglas A-1 Skyraiders 1/48 in different markings (Italeri-ESCI, Revell-Monogram and Tamiya). I have 4 others Cessna A-37 Dragonflies (Revell) that I will build them in a few months.
