Hello All,
Joined this forum recently and very impressed by the high standard of models! I am a wargamer rather than a modeller but hope to pick up some handy hints and tips!
Have posted lots of pics but they are 1/72 scale stuff, do many 'serious' modellers use this scale???
Anyway, great site, good forum!

Hello Baron
Glad it is sunny there cause it is rainy here in Kingston, Ontario. Yes many modelers do build 1/72 or braile scale. Nice work on the figures.

Hey RED,
Welcome to Armorama. So you are a wargamer, heh? I am probably going to have some questions for you then. I am trying to break into the wargaming world but have very little understanding of what is really involved. Perhaps you have some pointer for a wargaming noob.
As far as the 1:72 scale used by 'serious' modelers goes...Sure, I have seen many outstanding models and dioramas in this scale. The selection of figures and armor isn't nearly as good as the 1:35 scale but one can still have some fun.

Howdy RED!
Of couse 1/72nd scale is 'serious'. I am amazed by the quality and detail of that scale now a days. Some of us would even go for scratch building an 82-mm mortar in that scale!
Enjoy the 'ride' here...

Welcome aboard the best site at all!!!
About your question about "serious modellers" I can answer: a serious modeller is a modeller who enjoys what he's doing regardless of the scale he works with!

There are lots of Braille Scalers here although in the armor area the majority is 1/35.

A warm welcome to you! In case you haven't received a private message concerning this, "braille scale" refers to small scale, probably starting at 1:72 and smaller. Just like the blind read with braille, by feeling raised dots, a 1:72 modeler's eyesight is challenged working his model. That's what Braille scale means to me. I really like your 88mmFlak. I enjoy 1:72, and I'm even working on a simple Hobby miniatures Panhard in 1:150. Also, my youngest son and I break out the green army guys and equipment for a war game now and then. Nothing too sophisticated. I'm very glad your here!

As the proudest Irish-American in Armorama, I will always see Ireland sunny and brite, despite the weather!
If ya look closely at the beers, you'll notice they are Black & Tans
I welcome ya to this first pub you see here!
Braille scale Rocks! I model a lot of scratchbuilt everything in my scale of 1/160, or N-Scale. Tough on your eyes, bad for the nerves but fullfilling in the finished product!
Have a blast. I'd look in on the Figures folks here, I believe wargaming involves a lot of small figure painting.
Here to help,
Cuhail
