I'm on orders in support of OIF so I'm going to be out of the loop for awhile. Went on active duty yesterday , headed out this week for my base and from there to ? I'm going to miss poking around looking at who is building what and how they are building it . Ya'll are a great bunch of guys and gals, the best bunch of virtual friends anyone could ask for. Take care of things and I'll be around when I can . Toad ( A-13 ) out .

Good Luck, and you are in my prayers,

I'll give you the same suggestions my dad gave me when I shipped out for the South-East Asian War Games, which is the same suggestions Gramps gave him when he shipped out for WWII:

"Keep your head down, ears open, and watch out for your buddy, cause he's watching out for you."

Good Luck, and if you get near a computer, drop us a post.

Thanks to everyone for your support , thoughts, and prayers. Last night ( 19th Aug. ) was the send off parade for Troop A 98th Cav. The estimate for the crowd on hand was 10,000. I really don't know if I can ever thank all of you enough. I'm about to go do the toughest thing I've ever done . The support on the site and at home helps make it a bit easier to go and do that. I'm going to miss ya'll , and I'll try to drop by when I get a chance. We stay pretty busy so time is limited some days. So everyone take care of yourselves, and I ' ll see ya'll later . Toad out .

TT -- you'll be in our thoughts and prayers while you're gone. Godspeed.

A few words of advice from a former NCO:

Like Rob says above, "Keep your head down and on a swivel."

And like my Dad told me when I joined the Army: "Don't volunteer for nothing."

Remember your training and take care of your people -- they both will take care of you.

Don't make anyone do something you wouldn't be willing to do yourself.

And something I learned as a prison guard: Trust gut feelings -- they usually know what they are talking about.

Howdy TT,

Look, just do all of us here a couple of favours O.K.?

When you get there, don't go anywhere near Najaf!!

Second, if you have to spend any time at all guarding a bloody checkpoint. If the person you yell to to stop and be recognized doesn't stop on a dime!.........open fire.

And thirdly, ...oops, I said a "couple" right? Well too bad. Here's another.

STAY BUTTONED UP!!!! Don't go sticking your pretty head up to look at the scenery.

We ALL want you back here safe and sound, and that goes for your crew mates as well, so just listen to what Papa Tread says, alright?

Godspeed.

Tread.

Oh, and I know you're Army, but I'm going to say it anyway......

Semper Fi! my friend.

stay safe toad!

treads advice is good, stay away from najaf wherever possible, and make sure that safety catch can be easily removed!

best wishes
