Armorama modelers living in the lands of the dairy and lakes, unite!!!

Put aside your differences over the the NFC North and meet in Wausau on Oct. 23 for the Glue Crew show.

I attended last year, and while it's a small show, it still provides an opportunity to get some face time with fellow members of the this site.

Barring anything I have forgotten about or that could come up, I plan on attending again.....

Unfortunately it looks like one of my favorite shows in this region (NordiCon in Bloomington, Minn.) is residing in Davey Jones' locker for 2004, making Wausau one of the few remining shows this year that I know of in this area.
I found this on the IPMS Minneapolis site this AM regarding NordiCon:

"Nordicon has come and gone and currently there are no plans for a Nordicon 2004. Enjoy the photos and results from past years and we'll see you in the future!"

Sad news about Nordicon -- I always enjoyed that show.

Doesn't the IPMS/Bong Chapter out of Milwaukee still host a show at the EAA museum in Oshkosh? Our IPMS chapter in Oshkosh (IPMS/Steve Wittman) used to help out with that event. Also, the Madison IPMS club used to have an annual show.

From an exiled Wisconsinite pining for the fjords (or the Bay, as the case may be ...)

Bob:
Not sure about the Bong Chapter, they have what appears to be an older listing of events on their site.

The Mad City Modelers show (IPMS Madison) is usually in the spring, I was unable to attend this year.

Lord Pork

Let's plan to meet at Wausau this year. I will buy you a bourbon and bucket of cheese curds if you can show me how to properly paint facial flesh colors on figs. :-)

It's a date (but I have to check my work schedule on Monday just to be sure). I thought Nelson was out in PA or someplace.....

AND I just saw your KV-1 Russians and you need no help from me on skin tones. They look great.

I am not sure but I may be able to throw in a few bucks for the cheese curds. Is this a multiple day event? Sorry for my ignorance but this would be my first show.

I'm going to check with my wife and see if we have anything going that weekend (other than my birthday on the 21st). Perhaps I'll be there as well. I usually go to the MMSI show near Chicago around then, but it would sure be great to meet a few fellow Wisconsinites too.

I'll keep you posted.

Kyle:
One-day show, pretty small by comparison to others, but this could be more of a social event.....

It's be great to meet up there, but things come up so if you can make it, great! I checked my work calendar today and I'm good to go....

Check here for details

Hey I am glad that I read this thread. I am dissappointed by Nordicon, its a terrible shame that I didn't get to clean house again this year. Unlike the two years prior to this one I must learn to live w/o a award. Anyway, I read a little about this Wausau gig, and am wondering if there is competition or just a model show. I am really thinking about going anyway.

And what happend to Nordic con, whats the reason?

THanks!

Chip:
Last year it was a competition. If I recall correctly, awards were chosen by a voting by participants and the public. There were also several special awards that were given as well (if I remeber correctly).

It's (was) a smaller show than Nordicon (and had a lot of model cars there) but the dynamic could change this year with Nordicon shutdown.

Anyway you cut it, I had a good time.

Porkchop, are you going? I hope you are because I am going no matter what. I feel pretty bad Nordicon is out on the street, but I am glad that I could possibly have the chance to meet a fellow Armoramaerrr.

Just a bump here to see how plans are holding together.

I this point I plan on attending and it sounds like 19K is in as well along with WWH, barring work obligations!

What, you mean a fair number of Armorama people are also local SCREWHEADS? That's great. I should have looked up this thread long ago...

Anyhow, yup, I got it from Steve Hustad himself that NordicCon 2005 is definately in the planning stages, although it may be a smaller event this time around. My group, the Minnesota Military Figure Society, is also planning to help out to some degree.

Also, I went down to Chicago for the MMSI show, very nice. Still seems to be getting fewer and fewer entries each year...

I also know there is a IPMS Rochester "hope it don't snow show" in February .

Sorry, can get to Wausau...too much to do. Building models!

For those of you going, feel free to use me as the rallying point....
I'll probably wear my red an blue Minnesota Twins hat and may or may not have my galsses (Probably though as I can see small details better with them on).

As per a question of WWH, I have sent an e-mail to organizers asking what time this baby kicks off. Looking for ward to meeting you all and getting to see some of this work in person!
