My kitty like to steel my pilot figures from my table and smack them around on the floor in the kitchen. She uses them as a playing toy...... No, she doesn't chew them or eat them but just smacks them around....... #:-) #:-)

None of mine come on the modeling bench because I open a bottle of Testor's Liquid Cement. They don't like the smell. Although one of them did steal a fender hanger when I was building a DML PzIII H. Had to email MarcoPolo Imports for another one. Sent me 6, nice guys.
But the orange cat likes to watch the cursor go across the screen when I type. Tries to catch it with his paw., then steps on the keyboard.
All three usually stop by when I am modeling, look up at the desk and walk away.

Dog is the same thing. I work on coffee table in front of my TV, so my dog has access to the model stuff, so he always nose around in them, and whenever he pass by, I need to really hold everything down, because of his wagging tails. Used to chew up one fender of my Jagdpanzer IV, but not anymore, since I coated everything with bitter apple now. #:-)

Loki, my cat, insists on laying across my lap when I type... and he sits on top of my paint booth and watches me model... or walks across to get my attention to let him out...

they are good company, though

If I " HAD" a cat, I would kill (pun) the cat if he/she/it got that close to a model.

Realy, when I had a dawg, she stayed on her bed right near the door to the room. I am sure that this towel trick would do the same thing for a cat.

Now, if these strays in the yard ever come inside.......

Well, at one time we had 4 indoor cats roaming around the shanty. They are all gone now having gone to the big litter box in the sky due to old age. There are and will be no more cats or any other pets running amuck in my house.

I am fortunate to be able to have not one, but two modeling rooms with doors that remained closed and off limits when I wasn't there, but when I was, they kept me company and as long as they behaved, they were ok to have around. They did learn fast as to what they could and couldn't do in those rooms, all having a keen sense of hearing.

Thanks,
Kevin Keefe

All of the above sound like more good reasons not to have cats. Dogs are better, they don't usually screw with your stuff and they can go out and fetch a stick or the paper for you.

dagger,
The rocket launher was easily repaired also it was more that 10 years old, and survied MANY moves (when C.A.T. aka "wiskers" rubed his face against the rocket launcher the frount fell off, he did the same to the airplane but it survived.) ....a firm NO with this face also works.

I keep a loaded squirtgun within arms reach while I'm working. It keeps the cat, wife, kids, etc away.

TimberWolf: Glad to hear the good news. I had a CAT once. BUT at the time I was not building models, So it never became an issue. Cat's are wonderful pets...Until they decide that either they don't like you... or.... something you own. LOL Anyway. I have a Dog, And of course my hobby room has a door to it. So that's not a problem either. Sometimes my dog begs my wife to let her come in and lay in the room with me. But she seems to know to leave me be while I am working. Your cat sounds like a real character. BUT then I guess MOST Cats are characters anyway. We as people are indeed fortunante to have such
wonderful little people in fur coats as our companions.

Hey Jim,

No, with the new job (check the profile) I travel. With the EX gone, I have no time for her and no one to watch her. Was very fortunate to find a family that was looking for a lab. While heart breaking, it was for the best.

Come up sometime and see the collection growth!

Four cats and a 110-pound lab/bloodhound mix share our house.

I've been pretty lucky and haven't really had any problems with the critters messing with my model stuff. The big problem is hair. No matter how much you dust and vacuum, the stuff is around and seems to find wet paint. I have developed a habit of wiping everything with a tack rag before painting and covering or putting away everything that is a potential cat toy. I keep small parts in boxes or film cans. All my built models are in closed glass cases.

Our oldest cat -- the one who should know better -- has a thing for wire and Evergreen plastic strip. If I leave even the tiniest piece out, she will find it and chew on it.

Other than that, the dog usually lays within kicking distance whenever I'm in the house, and there is always at least one cat in the room -- sometimes all four! Quite an audience...

I used to have 2 Persian, 1 Sheltie and 1 GSD share my apartment, but at that time I was not modelling. But I had a bunch of "Armour" metal plane on display on a shelf, the cat used to jump on the shelf, but they walk really carefully, so never actually knock anything off.

But with ex moved out, so is the cats and the Sheltie, now only me and my GSD, cats are great, but their hair....oh man.....

I used to have a bench to work with electronics. My cat loved to take naps on it and play with my electronic components.

Well, one day I left a couple of capacitors charged.

The cat never approached my bench again.

Maybe that will work with modeling benches too.

Hey TW - That is a beautiful Pussycat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have 3 myself ( Cloey, Sebastian, & Kitty-Boy ).
Are Cat's the koolest or what ? - YES !!!!!!!!!!
I have my hobby-room in my basement away from my cat's however.
Once my oldest .........Cloey ........ate a penny and it cost me $400 to get
her an operation, beacuse it was blocking her intestinal track.
So now I'm real careful, especially when I bring my model's upstairs to wash
small parts.
GREAT PHOTO TW !!!
