That's a very beautiful Phantom. I especially like the pre-shading/bleaching effect on the overall finish.
Can you show me step by step instructions on how to make that Vulcan gun? I want to make one as a gattling laser for my 1/72 scale spacecraft based on a Mig 29.
Secondly, I cannot find Klear in here in Cebu. I haven't checked the SM mall yet, though. In the meantime, can you suggest a substitute?

hya angela.
it is difficult to say how i did my vulcan but i'll try.
1. have lots of reference photo.
2. measure the size of the gun bay of the kit using a caliper or ruler
3. after measuring, devide your measurement by 3.
usually 2/3 is the barrel, 1/3 body
4. now here is the guessy part, sometime you have to guess how thick the body is. use a streatched sprue and gradually reducing the size by sanding.
5. cut 6 hypodermic needles, 2/3 of the total length of the canon.
6. drill 6 holes in your body (stretched sprue) for your barrels.
7. add small pieces of plastic
8. paint.
i dont preshade my models,i'm quite heavy on the trigger so preshading disappear after painting. i usually mix a drop of black in clear paint and airbrush it on to the models. you can also replicate it by brushing fine black powder on panel lines shades then using rotring ink mixed with water, liquid soap you can highlight the line.
i dont know the counter part of clear in the philippines but if you read finescale modeler it has a write up ablout klear and its counterpart in different part of the world ( i think johnson and johnson make one but not sure what is the brand name )
i hope this help you. also visit our website www.ipmsphilippines.com and many guys will help you there.

Hi,
Hey, thanks for the info, klinger and blitz.
By the way, I found the alternative to clear as you suggested. If I'm right, it's named "Johnson's Wipe and Shine," comes in a white bottle and is quite milky in appearance, right? Developed by SC Johnson's?
