Just wanna ask more about the instruments. As I understand it, you paint the gray first. After that, how did you paint the black on the individual instrument panel bases (i.e., some instruments are on a square sort of frame while some are on circular frames)? Were this masked then sprayed on?
Finally, how did you do the yellow/black bars panels?
Just wondering
LaTtex,
i only spared the panel once (gray paint). the dials are achived by dry brushing(black) then the white paint then dry brushing again (black).
the yellow and black bars are done like this, paint the panel white first then yellow. wait for the paint to dry first before you put the second color and wait again for the yellow to dry again. most white and yellow colors (gloss) are thick in nature,so start with thin coats first. you can apply a second coat if the color is too faint but make sure the first coating is dry or you will peel it if you will apply the second coating to soon. for the black lines you can use tech pen 0.1-0.3. or if you are adventurous enough, use your 001 paint brush. start with a thinned black paint and gradualy building it up. always thinned your paints before applying them in your model. my techniq is brush to thinner, brush to paint (can), brush to palatte, brush to thinner, brush to palatte, then brush to model. practice makes perfect modelz.

the shading can be done by mixing flat coat with a tiniwiny drop of black paint then airbrushed. trial and error lang ako dati then i like the result. i also did pre shading before but i think i'm a li'l bit heavy when i paint so nawawala un mga shades after the painting. those shades are nice specially on corners, it really makes a shadow.

Drip... drip... drip ...
The sound of saliva drooling.
Galing! Very very nicely done, Mr. Klinger! Ive done the same technique of post shading --- mixing black with clear. But the one you did on this Phantom is very impressive indeed!

akala ko kung anung "tulo" yun... :-) :-) :-)
still a long way to go buck, i still need to sort out the seats, pylons, bombs and undercarriages. i also need to draw some panel lines as well ( my rotring techniq ). i like shading because it give you more depth like on wing/fuselagecorners. i'l kepp you poste but pahinga muna, i will go to UK motor show first. see yah

A very beautiful Double Ugly there.

What kit is this? Revell AG?
A comment though: The F version of the F-4, if I'm not mistaken, is exclusively used by the Luftwaffe. The USAF used the F-4E variant.
The E and F look very similar anyway.
Again, a magnificent build. The pit details alone totally blow me away.

Very exquisite work Klinger! You mentioned using paediatric needles; i usually use spinal needles gauge 25 for representing .50 cal gun barrels and gauge 23 spinal needles for 20mm barrels; do you use such too? The stylette can also be useful as a pitot tube... also worn out pulse oximeter probes have wires that are very fine- kinda useful too for wirings of wheel wells or whatever; do you use that too? just asking...

i agree with you mate, the kit itself is a german plane but i decided to change the decal. if you find a revell kit, you will see the german plane, i just used the kit to represent an F-4 that was base in the philippines. E and F are very similar indeed.

most of my details are from medical things like needles, scalpels, siphon, tubes etc. i found our stock room as second hobby shop. :-) :-) :-)

Correct Klinger; the hospital is a veritable supply depot of items we can use for scratchbuilding; i owe Hermie ( Guarnere) my curiosity for scavenging hospital stuff for when we first met at PGH back in 1992 ( he was a graduating anesthesia resident and i was incoming), his room which i consequently inherited was full of needles, more so spinal needles. The scrathbuilt AIFV i made from an KIFV kit ( seen at
www.geocities.com/afponlinemuseum/Cover.html) has an epidural needle for the 25mm KBA gun and spinal needle gauge 23 for the external fluting of the gun; today, i regularly supply Ramrod the expended pulse oximeter wire for him, and SNGs for whoever cares. Even the wrappers of surgical blades i save as lead foil for gun slings, uniform edges, etc...
What specific medical line items did you use for this kit of yours? im curious...thanks!

mostly needles for the cannon, pitot tube and struts. i also used the catheter size guide for the diameter of the body of the cannon and braces/support.
