Hi everyone,

Well GI, you have an interesting collection of books there. I wish that I had Hunnicuts book on U.S. Light Armour.

I just can't recall all the titles of my books but they fill two rooms. Some of them are inherited law books (75++). The rest are history/political science, military/model reference, Art and travel guide books (500++). I like to collect Michelin road maps too!

Magazines that I keep are Finecale Modeler, Military Modeler, Military Modeler, and of course FHM.

I use to collect comic books but I sold most of them after college. I still have a few complete Masume Shirow volumes like Appleseed and Tank Police. What I kept is a complete hardbound comic books of "The Adventures of Tin-Tin and Snowy" and "Asterix" in French.

This reminds me that I have to take inventory of my library.

Cheers,
RJ

I also have a few books and magazines related to military/modelling and books on architecture and 3D and other graphic applications.
With the high cost of books these days and lack of storage space. I manage to compile some photos and articles from the net, organized them on the folders and put them on a CD. I know It's not the same as collecting books and mags but, who knows it might come in handy.
There is one online book store where they sell hard to find tech. manuals in cds. It's in PDF format or if you can wait for the shipping you can actually download them for a price of $5

Wanze, what maps - regional international, regional local, country maps? If you have a fairly recent road map of North Korea, can I borrow it? Really, that's a serious query/request on my part.

I no longer buy FSM (unless the issue is a "must-have" for me) because of the steep price and that forums such as Armorama somewhat preclude the need to buy FSM.

Blitz: Indeed! Prices of good books are quite high nowadays, and now with the internet and forums, one can simply google the info or participate in a forum to get the info one needs. Yet, nothing still beats having a book on one's hand IMO.

On compiling CDs, same here - well, the idea at least. I haven't started transferring all the reference pix I downloaded from the Net to CD-Rs (takes time to do so). In fact, I haven't backed up my system since it was purchased last 2000AD!

Hi GI,

Ha! Ha! Ha! Seriously, you should order the North Korean maps at the CIA website. I think they have some copies for sale. My Michelin maps are mostly of European countries and the U.S.

My personal library contains:

Some pulp fiction books: Mack Bolan, Phoenix Force, Able Team, Rogue Warrior series (usually action stuff)

I've got 2 books by Frederik Schodt on Japanese Manga and on Japanese culture

Military books:

Commandos by Douglas Waller

SEAL's at War by Edwin Hoyt

Illustrated Guide to Military Uniforms

Illustrated Guide to the Counterterrorist Forces of the World

Tom Clancy's books (plus those non-fiction guided tours; except Op-Center)

Larry Bond's books

I've also collected a heap of Japanese manga, my favorite being Ranma. I've also got Oh My Goddess, You're Under Arrest, Gunsmith Cats, Sanctuary, Crying Freeman (the last 2 are the types you wouldn't like kids to read yet). For non-Japanese stuff, I've got Wildstorm's Team 7.

Got one then of Germany, Czech, Slovakia, and other countries of Central Europe and Northern Europe (Norway, Sweden, Kola Peninsula region)? I'm using them as reference for the ongoing TW2K campaign, me being the storyline maker.

I collect maps meself, NatGeo maps mostly. Gots them all rolled up in those containers architects use.

Tanker25: Cool! Team Yankee! That's one book I haven't found and want to read. Perhaps borrow it from you someday? :-)

2 weeks ago I got a catalog from a Military Book Club. Being an impulsive buyer and I guess with a very nice offer of 4 books(plus 1 FREE) for a price of $1.00. Excluding the shipping and handling.
The only catch is you have to buy from them at least 4 books within 2 years. Hmm not bad?!
So I got the books this Monday and they charge me $18.00( not bad I guess)$17 for theS&H and taxes.
Titles are:
-German Armored Warfare of World War2
by Ian Baxter
-Vietnam Choppers
Helicopters in Battle
by Simon Dunstan
-SS: The Secret Archives(2 volumes)
Eastern Front and Western Front
by Ian Baxter
-German Infantry ( unfortunately they haven't send this since it's out of stock)

I should have pick Tank Girls ....or Girls in Uniform... but was thinking that my kids might pick them up and see all the half naked ladies in uniforms hehehe.

Does that include this pic? Hehehehe

Tanker25: Thanks! :-) Team Yankee is a great book from what I've heard from readers who are/were in the military. Better than Tom Clancy. Yep, I do scout around at Booksale for such books. I gots my "August 1985: The Third World War" by Sir Hackett at Booksale (which is a good read and among the better ones delving on WW3). I'm on the lookout for "Red Star" (I think that's the name) which is basically like "August 1985", but in "Red Star", the Soviets win. :-) That too is a great book.

Hi GI,

I will try to see what I have at my new home. Most of my stuff is in storage in Batangas. Off-hand, I think that I have my Micheln Road Atlas for Western Europe. I often use it when I hav e to go abroad. I don't often go to Central Europe; some of my competitiors are based there.

Tanker25: IIRC, yes, in "Red Star" (really can't remember the correct title - but I think that's the one, but not really sure), the Soviets won AFAIK. I, too, am intrigued by it. As for Coyle, yep, I'm also on the lookout for his books. His as well as the Jack Aubrey series (I forgot the author's name).

Wanze: What scale are your maps? Got any topographical maps as well?

Hi GI,

You're in luck! My Michelin Motor Atlas covers western, northern and parts of central europe. They are in the following scales respectively, 1:1,000, 000, 1:1, 500, 000 , and 1:3,000,000. It also has city maps in various scales. My copy has seen better days but it's still complete. Had it since I was in college in Belgium and I use it often together with 1/ 200,000 scale area maps of the places that I plan to visit.

Sorry, the individual country maps and european topographical maps are in Batangas.

If you're interested, we can meet and maybe I can borrow something interesting like the Hunnicut book. Anyway, just e-mail and we can plan something.

Wanze: Great! BTW, what year were these maps published? Also, I'm curious, college in Belgium?

Aye, I'll gladly lend you the Hunnicutt book in exchange for borrowing your maps, but probably after March 20 when the finals are probably done.

Hi GI,

They were published in 1989. Just e-mail me when you want to borrow the maps.

Yeah, I finished my political science degree in Bruxelles, Belgium. I was there from 1988 to 1991. Before that I was in the UK studying for my "O" and "A" levels.

Books! Boy have I got ot's of tyhem. I am even wondering how much it would cost to ship them back home. For military books I've got the following:

Author Chris McNab (I don't think has any relation to Ryan McNab of Bravo 20 fame)
Uniforms of WW2 (good reference for battalion/section formations)
20th Cen. Uniforms,
Military Vehicles,
Submarines,
Small Arms of the 20th Cen.,
Something about tanks I forgot the name.
Artillery

My Vietnam Experience by some guy named Michael Witt or something.

A big white book about Vietnam.(real good, lots of pictures)

SAS endurance.

Airborne

Hunter/Killer - Boomers, Submarines

The Modern Navy

D-Day

Submarines by Tom Clancy

Excalibur- (boring book about British armor development)

2 years worth of Military Modelling Magazine and some on and off issues of Scale Modeling which I buy because they show images of the contents of the boxes they review.

Some borrowed Mags about painting and scratchbuilding military figures.

A big white book about titled Martial Arts

Pictorial Book Of Judo

AiKiDo (yah!!)

Around 40+ pocket books of from authors like Clancy, Ludlum and the likes

The complete works of Shakespear (i still don't uinderstand it.)

The complete works of Edgar Allan Poe.

Various engineering and architectural books and magazines.

Come to think of it. It would be expnsive bringing them all back.

I have nothing on my shelves...But about that Moro thing, I've read an article on PDI about an American General (not sure w/ the name....But he's AKA 'BLACK JACK') who commited attrocities against the Moros back in the early 1900's. ....

That's General Jack "Black Jack" Pershing.. He was in the Philippines in the 1900s and fought the Moros with the early Phils Scouts and Phil Constabulary.

I cant really list down my book collection and references materials (medyo mahaba) but if anybody wants to know a topic or reference that maybe I can help out, please feel free to ask.

Just bought a book totally about M2A2s and M3A2s Bradley by Concord Publishing. As usual, not much of interior shots but the book is well detailed. Total of 48 colored pages and a small page of the 6 views of the Brad in 1/35 scale. Cool
