From the calculations going on here, we'd all better start eating organic veg and doing lots of exercise!

I rather prefer the wax or plastic vegetables. They last longer and don't attract flies.

I'm relying on modern medicine winning over the "burn the witches" brigade and keeping me alive till I'm 173. If thy can do that at my current build rate I can clear the current stash completely.

Of course then there is the problem of how many new kits will get added in the 118 years between then and now.
On a practical note I don't want my wife to have to deal with the emotional side of dealing with my personal effects so I'll do what I susually do and appoint a friend as an executor for that part of it.

If they end up in a yard sale for $1 a piece then I don't mind, at least then I may fulfil my own dream for someone else, that of finding 500 kits at a yard sale for a dollar each.

Believe it or not my granddaughter (14 years old)and my nephew both love to build and paint WWII armor. They will be the beneficiaries of my stash. I know that all of the stuff I didn't get to will go to those that appreciate it.

I plan on building most of my stuff...but only God knows how much time I have left.

Well considering I'm well over 1000+ kits in the stash, my plan is to build as many as I can in what time I have left on terra firma, hopefully many, many years. I'm only 45 now. I think I will have my wife have a large funeral and instead of a pyre, (that is soo cool though) I will have the remainder of my stash passed out to the atendess with the requirement that they build said kit given them. Quality of the build won't matter. Just the fact that they will have to under take something that I truly loved will give them a little inside look into what I did prior to kicking the bucket and how much it meant to me. Of all my built stuff, my kids and grandkids will get to pick what they like and the rest can go to who-ever wants them.
Second option is a huge build party where everybody gets to build my stash until its gone...

I think that will have somebody put all my relatives in one room (closed and locked) and then they all have to get from all kits let's say, part C15. The one with the most part C15 parts wil inherit all my money. They will all be given sharp X-acto knives.

Oh, the one with the most parts has to leave the room first, otherwise no money. It will be bloody....

I feel a new sequel of the movie Saw coming up

No wife, no worries!

Actually, I did think about this a few years back and decided to reduce the size of the stash. It wasn't just the thought of my sister and brother wondering what to do with it all but also the need for money as well as getting tired of stubbing my toes on junk (not just model kits) in my one bedroom apartment when I walk around at night.

I've been selling my stash at the local model club for either half retail price (whatever it takes to get it off my hands for some kits). I've gone from 700+ to around 400 but I really want to get it down to maybe 50. I figure the guys at the local club appreciate it and I even get to see some of the kits after they build it.

Does anyone make a model of Al Gore ? Maybe we should burn that instead of the whole stash. As for the Pres.......could be he will be toasting someday alongside his pal Rev Wright. But thats not up to me. My significant other person has a son that is taking an interest in models. Probably leave it to him.......Al

My wife has had the same discussion with me

I have 8 kids, 4 boys & 4 girls but all the boys are into sports & warhammer and the girls music & ballet.. They will build the occasional armour kit (I don't have many aircraft) and boy do I grit my teeth when they

I have well over 1000 kis and more in accessories. I thought about selling them and keeping WWII Allied armour, but everytime I try to get rid of something I can't seem to let myself do it. Even trying to sell a kit at swap & sell club meets I look at the guy who wants to buy my stuff and if I deem that he doesn't build as well as me, then I won't let the kit go or say someone else has asked me to hold the kit for them.

I'm a horder, a bad one, who needs 5 white scout cars, 5 Zvezda Pz 1's etc!

There was an old addage said by modellers down under, but it maybe said the world over

"whoever dies with the most kits wins"

I'm not sure what you win, but I guess questioning is knowing your're growing older

After way too much thought, I like what has already been said:
[snip]I've always wanted the funeral pyre and burn them with my corpse on top just to piss off Al Gore and all the tree huggers one more time[snip]
[snip]I'm taking mine with me, I'll have them all melted down and vac-formed into a P-47 shaped coffin.[snip]
And my own 2cents: yall can come over and pick out what you want. Happy building.

Boy is this one a good one.If I had all of my stash lit up in flames Wisconsin would become a toxic waste site.I have ...well ALOT of kits inclucding figures the number is in the thousands probably and growing.I have 1/35 armour, trucks figs etc.1/72 armour trucks figs etc and a whole lot of warhammer figs.
My girl friend says I should open up a hobby shop with all of my "junk".So when I die look for a new hobby shop to be opening in Wisconsin.

Oh yes, ha ha ha, cos poisoning the neighbors is so funny, isn't it.

It depends upon what kind of neighbor one has I guess, and by that point I won't care what they think of me anyway. I've sold off half my kits so far, as I'm getting back to my easel. I'll pare it down to a manageable 120 or so and probably have a few left when I kick.

Nige, I felt bad with 50 kits in my stash, LOL!

The best thing you can do for your loved ones is make a list of your kits, what they have in them (AM goodies) and an estimated selling price here on Armorama.

While my stash is about average (say 300ish kits) it's my books that are the bigger problem. I've thousands of them.

If my wife can resist the urge to "Viking Funeral" me or to chuck them all out in a dumpster, then I have suggested to her that the guys in teh local club be responsible for selling them for whatever they can get and the proceeds go wherever will do the most good.

I've seen a version of this at model RR shows. Several guys had a series of tables with boxes & boxes of old RR parts. Signs about keeping the stuff together so the "widows and orphans' could get a fair deal. Don't know if it's the clubs or there are estate houses / pawn shops that include this as part of their services.

a local well known modeller in ontario recently passed, and thats exactly what some of the fellows in the modelling community did..they set up a table at one of the shows, with a banner describing what it was about, and they sold off the stuff..the money went to a warplane heritage museum..
