How true? Somebody says that resins are poisonous. How true and what are the effects? How to prevent it. Are there other alternatives for resin kits?

Shonen Red, resin itself it's noi poisounous. Is it's dust that can provocate skin irritation and harmful effects if you breath it. Anyway simple precaution can prevent all of this. What I do is the following:
- wear a pair of disposable latex gloves (they're cheap an can be bought at most supermarkets)
- wear a mask. I bought one at an hardware stores of the one used to prevent the harmful effects of varnishes or to prevent to breath dust (wit a few euros you can have one) or you can go to a chemist and ask for the paper mask for dust allergy
- once finished I hoover the area throughly
Hope this can help

Also keep your resin parts wet when sanding so that the dust is minimal

heres an article by Rob Plas on Missing links called Scale Modelling and Your Health .
Read it and at least you will know what can happen in extreme cases or careless modelling! Worth knowing in my opinion.

Hi Shonen
There have been plenty of warnings about the danger of inhaling the dust from sanding resin kits - basically you are risking cancer...
I always wet sand and wear a full face mask. Resin dust has a distinctive smell - if you can smell, you're inhaling it... be careful!
Some people laugh this off as paranoia, but when it comes to cancer, you can't be too careful...
Take care
