Adam, that's funny. My SWMBO and I have planned the defenses of our house in case of the ZA! I'm a Rennie and a blade collector. You can't walk 10 feet in our house and not be within reach of a carbon-steel sword, dagger, poll arm or ax.
Two cuts on the porch stairs and three sheets of plywood and we're buttoned up!

Zombie-free zone!

Murph, dude......
Swords and axes are way cool and all but you do realize that zombie blood is highly infective don't you? I mean, lop of a head or an arm and a drop of blood hits you in the eye or mouth and the next thing you know I'll be having to put you down with a 308 round from a couple hundred yards. Nothing personal mind ya.......just one of the rules of zombie warfare.

Anyhoo.....if you guys are serious about this I'll try and put something together over the weekend and submit it. I was thinking instead of just zombies, it could be post apocolyptic. That would include zombie infestation, nuclear holocaust, alien invasion, etc. Also, it could include wheeled and tracked vehicles, boats, airplanes, fortress dios. Kind of like in the book series by SM Sterling. What say ye?

BTW, do ya'll like the flame thrower and ammo can or what?

Gonna start one of my last surprises tonight. A front mounted dozer/snow plow blade.

Well, I can see a little seam on the ammo can, but, the flippin flamethrower is righteous! It's going to look AWESOME with some hoses and a small heat shield.

I'm impressed.

But, before ya give me grief....

I haven't seen ya in my latest scratchbuild THREAD where I'm doing an M1 turret basket for the railtank....hmmmmm?

Well, that would be because you're building it on Armorama (where I never go) instead of in the SCRATCHBUILDERS forum. Besides, I'm the youngster here. I need the encouragement more than you.

I agree; less specific is probably better. I'm curious to see what people will come up with! I think next time I will make my own tracked vehicle just to drive myself insane.

A bit of progress tonight. Got a shield built for the flame thrower. Also built a heavy duty zombie crusher front blade for the front of the truck.

Bare in mind, all these things are freshly painted. I'll weather everything and add blood stains, etc. later on.

A little update. Things are starting to take shape now. Still lots of sanding and filler to go before the final coat goes on. There will be a top deck over the cab eventually which will hold the 50 cal and gunners seat. I've made a start on a rack that you can partially see on the back. I'll make some water cans like Adam did and stock it with some other usefull stuff.

More to come later.

Is that a boxed in mesh deck on the back?

It is indeed a storage box Justin. I still have to add some support pieces and the rest of the mesh to it. I'll put in some water jugs and spare chains and stuff in the back. I'm gonna make some spare gas cans as well but they'll be placed somewhere besides UNDER the flame thrower.

And here is yet another idea I have taken from Adam. My first attempt at a 5 gallon water jug. I'll make 2 or 3 of these and as many gas jugs to be stowed behind the cab of the truck. I made the X in the middle by heating a sculpting spatula over a candle and swipping it down the plastic. Not the best results but I think I can clean out the grooves a bit and make it look better.

Time to get to bed.

That gas can looks familiar...

Lookin' good, Hermon! Next time I'm going to put an X on my cans. Hell, maybe I'll go photograph the gas cans in the garage and make some imitations of those. Well... if I can get the snow drift out of the way...haha.

As Elvis would say, Thank you...thank you very much.

Here is my half-arsed attempt at tread making. I used a dremmel with a little cutting bit to hollow out some offset spaces. This is supposed to look like the old 2 1/2 ton military tires. Not exactly great, but hey, it's 100% scratch built....tire, rim, tread, lugs and all.

I think once it's dirtied up and muddy it'll be OK.

And, because I'm lazy and tired......I'm going to bed now. Just so's ya'll don't loose interest in the zombie chase truck, here is an update pic of where she's at now.

There's a bunch more sanding to do here and there. Next step in the build will be the top platform for the machine gunner. This will be made of rod (as you can see) with a flat piece of card for the platform. Notice my water can fits snug as a bug in a nice little rug into the back bumber rack.

BTW, we're expecting a major winter storm here over the weekend....(1 to 3 inches ) so I should have plenty of time at the bench.

Cool! That is one hell of lift kit. Will there be undead flesh caught in the tire tread?

Brian, those zombie figures are totally cool. Fit in perfectly with the theme.

No updates yet guys. Our 1 to 3 inches of snow over the weekend turned into 22 inches here at my house. We just got our power back on today. 5 days without electricty is bad enough but not getting to work on my zombie chase truck was really starting to pi** me off.
Never fear. Power is back on and the zombie truck is rolling on.

OK, so this build is really starting to drag out. Sorry guys. This one is WAY more envolved than I had anticipated at the start. Anyhoo......got the top gunners position built and the chainlink added. Also added some angle iron.....er uh..angle plastic to the front windshield protection bars. I'll add chainlink there as well later on.

And if you're gonna man a flame thrower, ya gotta give her a name. In this case my flamers name is "PURE HELL". I thought it was appropriate......it helped that I just so happened to have the decal in the spares box.

I'm working on the suspension right now. I'll try to have some pic's of it up soon. Hang in there everybody, she's almost ready to roll!
