Greatmodels website had(since removed) an ad for a 9/11 sale.
I was god smacked when I saw this ad. Truly disgusting and insensitive.

"Crashing prices" and something like "911 falling prices"

That is unbelievable. To use 9/11 as an excuse to have a sale is bad enough but as David Hillborn over on Tracklink says
Quoted Text

the use of the terms "crashing" and "falling" are terrible.

The Image and text were in incredibly bad taste. I'm a bit stunned that someone could think they could use 9/11 to sell models and get away with it.

Well, just requested cancellation on a pre-order with them. Just can't bring myself to do business with an organization that just so disgustingly disregards what occurred on that tragic day and the people who suffered (not only all those who died during the attacks, their family and friends, but those who paid with their lives fighting in both wars as a result of it - whether you agree with having gone to Iraq or not). And the worse part for me is a small statement that now they have on their home page stating that they will "deal with it Monday" (after they acknowledged that "some wording" - as they said - was insensitive).

I know for sure I won't be doing business with them in the future.

It was indeed shameful....and a damned shame.

As Rob mentioned, they'll deal with it Monday. Bad move.

I agree with you guys. I saw the advertisement before they took it down - it was extremely bad. Now the "deal with it on Monday" thing is making it worse. I've always had a good experience with Great Models, but I'm planning to cancel the pre-order I have pending as well.

Yeah, I saw that yeterday and while I look forward to anyone's reason for having a sale, this one was in bad taste. I was going to reset my preorder for the tribewagon now that they have a final price...now I have to reconsider.

As a combat veteran and a Fire Police officer who worked in NYC on the recovery mission, I am beyond insulted and offended. I don't care if they apologize, this is the kind of mistake you just don't make in the first place. I am closing my account with them and cancelling their newsletter and I'm going to tell them why.

I can't believe there are people actually defending GM there...if for example some webshop had a "California wildfire sale....all prices are being torched" who in california who's lost their home and/or worse going to feel about that? How about an "Illinois flood of '96 sale...all prices are being washed away"...I personaly lost about everything I owned back in '96, how'd I feel if a shop made a sale of that flood?! A few on that website say, "it's just life...what are ya supposed to do and we can't boycott any shop who's insensitive enough to make a sale over something that's effected anyone"...BS! I can't believe how desensitzed some folks are now a days...it's all "don't worry about anyone else's problems since they're not ours...and anything to make a buck...pathetic...totally pathetic!

Monday, 5:23 CST, I decided to see how they handled the "take care of it monday" thing...they did...they're offline. Interesting...I'd have to laugh if they're ISP yanked them for the add.

I haven't read ALL the postings for this............... and agreed that the thing is a dawg of a bad move, but is there any chance that it was done purely out of someone just making a bad choice and not thinking this through instead of someone viciously trying to take advantage in bad taste .......... on purpose ????

The responses have been intense........... and I can totally understand the passion behind it all. And I do agree ............... it was the wrong move on their part. Someone should be doing some QC prior to posting things up.

This is not a "bad choice", it's sociopathic! This is like wearing an SS uniform and swastika armband into a Jewish temple! Look at the wording - and the type font in the second banner!
This is the kind of unthinkable thing that just is not done in the first place, except in hate groups.

I sent a email to tell them why I would no longer buy anything from GREATMODELS
This is their reply:::;

Carl.

You are 100% correct. We would never intentionally make light of such a
serious and tragic event. We completely messed up here. We should have had
someone proof read the wording before it was "hastily" released. It's by no
means an excuse, because there is no excuse. We royally messed up, and the
owner of GreatModels will personally apologize to everyone today.

I sincerely apologize for offending you. Please believe me when I say, that
GreatModels would never, ever use human tragedy to make a buck. It was a
gross mistake, that we hope we can recover from.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

Happy Modeling.

I am voting with my wallet.
Surprised they did not offer to "Nuke" prices on August 6th.
Hoping someone gets fired for this but they feel sure that everyone that is offended is just being xenophobic or hypersensitive.

I too recived the same apology word for word. Looking at all the modeling web sites, I am sure they have taken a beating this weekend.

For my part as I responded to their apology, I accept it as they did take full responsibility. But they need to make a public apology and even with that...there is still a wound which will take a while to heal.

As I posted on another site, their apology would go a lot further with a public gesture such as a donation to the 9/11 fund or arrangment for models and supplies to servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have gone so far in one direction, it will take an equal good gesture in the other direction.

My first email was full for fire and brimstone. I have accepted their apology, now they need to show their sorrow. Prove it in deed not just a prepared email
