Heres my IDF M113 Fitter. I used the salt weathering technique that was shown on Fine Scale Modeler magizine.
How Do You Think It Looks?

Hi 19Delta!
Lovely job! What did you use for the dull metal that's showing? (much more realistic than some of the "chrome" jobs I've ended up with!!!)
It's good to see the salt-technique used "in anger"... I'm trying to pluck up the courage to try a WW2 Japanese a/c using salt - it's got to be the scariest subject for an aircraft buff like me...
Looking forward seeing to the finished beast
All the best

The Ultimate Dull Metal Combination : 2 Parts - 1st Step: Airbrush entire piece with Model Masters Light Gray Primer #2737- 2nd Step: Airbrush Very Very Lightly on, Model Masters RLM 72 Grun (SG). Thats it.. I ended up doing it twice to get the effect I want

So there's no metallic paint involved at all?? This I've GOT to try...

Really good weathering technique you have used. It looks quite convincing. Will have to try this out on a Derelict sometime.

For those who do not know the salt-technique (methinks me the only one) and who doesn't have a regular subscription to FSM, what is it and how is it done?

Take your model, what ever it may be since this technique works on everything. Spray the whole model in a base coat. I chose to do a dull metal look. When the base coat has dried throughly this is when you add the salt. Spray or do what I did wet my finger and run it across one section of the model. After that get some of your Sea Salt or Kocher Salt (same thing) and start pilling it up. Where the salt is at is where the base coat will be showing through. Make sure you have the salt where you want it, and let it dry. I put mine out side in 90 weather with alot of humidity out, so it dried pretty fast. After the model is all salted, its now time for you top coat. Spray the model with the top coat, covering the salt. Dont worry if some salt comes off, then let dry. After drying its now time to see how it looks. Wipe off the salt with your finger or with a piece of paper towel, I used my finger. Once the salt is off you're all good to go to do your weathering and clear coating.

I have got a Kubelwagen with the base coat applied. Tomorrow morning I am going to sprinkle a little bit of salt here and there and apply the top coat. I hope mine comes out as good as yours did.
