I'm going on 30
, and have been modeling off and on since I was 8 years old. When I was a kid, I mostly did cars, with some military aircraft. As I grew older and learned to appreciate aircraft more, I moved into that genre exclusively. I have built maybe 30 or so models altogether; none of which were very detailed. Back in 1999, when I was in England, I built a Tamiya P-47D and decided to kick in some drybrushing and washing... and, well, I got hooked into fine detail. I've only done a few models since that one, so I'm still learning the fine intricacies of fine detailing. After my interests piqued in the WWII era, I took on some additional interests in armor after visiting a few WWII museums in England.Well, now I'm in the US Air Force (going on 10 years), and am in Texas away from home doing some crosstraining into F-16 Avionics. My home base is Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM. I'll be here in Texas until August, so I decided to pick up modeling again. I'm finishing up a 1/72 Italieri CV-22, and my next project is Tamiya's T-34/76 ChTZ. I'm going to spend the next three months on it, and am planning on doing a small diorama to go with it (someday); probably a street/ruin in Stalingrad, circa spring/summer 1943. I've got about $50 worth of accessories for the ChTZ to include Eduard Accessories PE stuff, Aluminum Barrel, custom decals, Maquette plastic link tracks, Squadron's "T-34 in Action" book, some Verlinden Armor books and more. (I know, I jumped in head first!) I still need to get a decent airbrush to get the project started off, as right now I have the el-cheapo Testors amateur airbrush.
Anyways, I just thought I'd say hi.
