well... wat i meant was when u spray onto clear parts like inlet navigation light and wing tip light, how do u go about doing it? i tried using clear red but the result looks matt instead of appearing clear.

You could try hand-brushing on the inside of the part. This will ensure that the outside will be clear and glossy. A dip in future (if you can find a bottle) might also do the trick.

yup thats what i did too. Paint from the inside, as for lucky model orders, just use debit cards, its much better for internet purchase.

That looks like an awesome cockpit! Tamiya 1/48 kit I presume?

Anyway, you don't have to wait for the Quickboost seat to continue. It can go in last after all the painting and decaling.

Here's the way I was taught do it when I first started modeling.

1. Take 400 - 600 grit sandpaper and sand off the seam-line.
2. Switch to 1200 grit sandpaper and polish the blurred parts.
3. Repeat with 2000 grit sandpaper.
4. Take Tamiya Compound (fine grade) and buff till the canopy becomes clear again.

Here's how I do it now.

1. Take 400 - 600 grit sandpaper and sand off the seam-line.
2. Use a 3-grade polishing nail file to begin polishing. Start with the roughest grade and work from there. You can get these files at any Guardian/Watson's store in the ladies manicure tool section .
3. Finish polishing with Tamiya Compound (fine grade).
4. And now the magic touch. A dip in Future (if you can find a bottle ).

If done properly, you'll get a canopy that is as clear as day.

A side note, USAF F-16CJs use a tinted forward canopy and a clear rear one.

Hope this helps!

Yup. Tamiya Compound is readily available.

Don't worry about messing up the canopy. There are 2 in the Tamiya kit so if you're not confident, can always practice on the unused set.

Don't polish too hard or else you may crack the plastic. Happened to someone I knew and it wasn't pretty.

Yeah with that kind of price tag, you sure can get the tamiya C or CJ.
