Well, I tried to hold onto this for as long as I was able. But I am becoming pitifully slow at getting new content onto the site. Why? Well there are a number of factors, but suffice to say that with over 2000 members I am getting a lot more email and such asking for help and solving problems with the sites code/software. Having to worry less about adding content will also free me up for improving the functionality of the site and adding new areas, like the Campaigns module. So... I am finally to the point where I think I can let other users act as Editors to input feature articles and news stories.
I am not looking for a bunch of people for this. And I obviously will be looking for people who DO have the free time to spend a few hours (2-4) each week entering new content. The way I will divide this up is in this way.

(2) Editors for Armor Features/News
(1) Editor for Figures
(1) Editor for Aircraft
(1) Editor for Warships
(1) Editor for Dioramas
(1) Editor-at-Large (this person will have the privilege of adding content to any category, but they will not have items funneled to them, rather they will be charged with going out and finding contributors and stories on their own).

Ok. So you may ask. What's in this for me? To that I would say long nights, a bit of frustration, tired fingers, and the feeling of pride that comes when you see your work appreciated. That last one is the best part. :)

Editors will also get a POP email address ([email protected]) and full administration access for the gallery. You will need this to add photos to the site for linking to the articles.

What I will be looking for in a successful candidate are the following things.

• The ability to size and manipulate images in a program like Photoshop (but it doesn't have to be Photoshop). What I am looking for here is the ability to process and deliver color-corrected images that look better than when you first opened them. Also images that are the correct file size for the sites guidelines. If you don't know how to do this now, it's not a pre-requisite. You would just need to learn some of the basics and I can teach anyone that (if they have a program like Photoshop).

• A basic understanding of HTML. Can use a program like Dreamweaver or Frontpage to create tables and the like? Have you edited HTML via a text editor? I can provide each Editor with a Frontpage template that I use to create the features. But be forewarned. To accomplish some of the fancy pop-up stuff takes a little doing (mostly a cut-and-paste job). But not to fear. I am willing to let the format slide a bit in the goal of having more content. Plus if you are creative you can even come up with your own format.

• Can you proof and quality check your work? I want people who are somewhat sticklers for details. I think we are all pretty happy with how the site looks. I would like to keep those high standards.

That's it. If you have questions about these or other areas just let me know. I would also be willing to entertain the idea of Editors for our ALT-English sites, so that opens up a whole thing too.

I feel like my child just grew up and I am letting them leave the house.

Cheers,
Jim
