The model club “Model friends Ried” is responsible for this biggest plastic modeling event in Austria. It is held bi-annually within two halls of the market and trading area of the town. Profiting from the central location within Europe and due to another event in the nearby halls, especially on Sunday a lot of visitors were attracted.
Photo by W. BradacTraders and competitors came from Austria, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic. Compared to the last exhibition in 2000, there were fewer exhibitors but more traders, much to the benefit of the customers, as this caused a lot of pressure to haggle over prices.

Highly appreciated were the sectors, where the “Master Modelers”, such as Mr. B. Lustig or Mr. I. Howes showed, how to use a paintbrush properly or how to do scratch building. Additionally to that a company showed the proper use of an airbrush and of course all of their products to try this at home....

The most successful model clubs came from Bozen (Italy) and Wr. Neustadt (Austria). They won nearly every category or at least got some of the medals. As it is already tradition the awards ceremony took place in a rural restaurant after a very typical Austrian dinner. For the next contest, which will take place in 2004, there can be expected an even better and bigger event, as this will be the 10th anniversary of the organizing club.
