Its been a tad quiet around here so here's just asking the question.

Whats on your workbench at the moment?

Im currently building the Skybow WC57 Command Car for General Patton.

Certainly an old kit but its one outstandingly detailed kit. Parts are very accurate and pretty much fall together very well. Definitely recommend it for those keen on doing softskin vehicles.

More than I care to admit

For starters
Italeri Dodge WC-54 for the Paint it Yellow campaign
Italeri VW Typ 87 for the Best of British campaign
A home made Chopper for the Tools campaign
Tamiya Cromwell, not for any campaign
Tamiya 1/48 Sherman M4, for one of the grand sons
a few odd figures and vehicles gathering dust :-)

apart from that, not much.

cheers
David

2 Italeri kits, the 5cm PaK38 gun with servants and the Mercedes truck.
All panzergrey painted (I think) for a diorama I got in mind later on (transport colonne on rest) which wil display some captured US vehicles aswell.

Hope to get it somewhat realistic looking.

Hi Sean,

Got any more info on the 1/350 Achilles? What are you using as a basis? Or is it all scratchbuilt?

Cheers

Thanks for that. Now you've got me wondering about a 1/350 Ajax. Is it a new resin kit or just a scale typo and you're referring to the the 1/600 Airfix kit?

Anyway it's great you've got you grandfathers photos to use. There was a booklet put out after the war about Achilles with a few photos in it. I wonder if you're grandfathers photos are different. Someone gave me some plans for Achilles that i haved somewhere.

Cheers

How did your Dodge WC57 go Jeremy? (Like the M26.

Oops just realise i didnt share out here when i should have. Here are the shots i took of the WC57 kit. IMHO, one of the best kit in terms of fit. The engine was just simply amazing.

Thanks very much for the kind words guys.

I picked it up from Acornmodel's closing down sale up here in Auckland. It has been sitting in my stash since. If you really want this kit, i would fully recommend that you purchase it from http://www.luckymodel.com . I did notice that i cant find this kit in NZ anymore.

M26 Pershing on www.luckymodel.com

I've since purchase the M2A1 Halftrack and the Dragon Wagon from them. Even after exchange and shipping, they are still alot cheaper than the LHS here. Definitely check it out if you are keen andy!

Was the AFV Club tracks any better?

Jazza,

The AFV club track is perfect but.! Its only designed for the Blast suspension.
I read the review over at the PMMS site on the AFV club track .
I went with this because it was like $12. compared to $45 Aust.
I almost went the Fruil track but I'm glad I didn't .
The weight factor on the Blast drive sprocket could have caused some problems

Cheers

Didnt the blast set come with tracks of its own? Did it not match up with AFC Club's one?

Yeah they closed down about 2 - 3 years ago now. The owner mentioned that they were closing the Auckland branch to concentrate on the Christchurch branch so that one is definitely still going.

Honestly though, i dont know how they will be able to compete any longer when you got the likes of luckymodel's online store which sells their kits at least $20 cheaper after shipping.
