After starting and then putting back in the box several aircraft builds, due to losing interest, I decided a change of scenery was required.
So out came Trumpeters KV-1, 1942 model Heavy cast turret tank, which I picked up for about a tenner from Hobby Easy.
9 sprues with a 310 parts. 2 sets of tracks are supplied, 1 set of rubber band tracks and another of injected plastic, not sure which to use yet.
It will be built OOB, but will probably be given a complete winter whitewash scheme.

This will no doubt be built quick, as I have a week off work .

Thanks Derek.
Step 1
No major problems, apart from trying to get the rear hull on as its a little tight.

The build will be fairly quick, but the paint and weathering will take a couple of days.

Andy - Looking good. Will watch this with interest as I have just bought a Hobby Boss 1/48 KV and they are a scaled down version of these.

Thanks guys.
Yes Mal another kin target :-). Ross I don't think you will be disappointed in this kit. 1/48 scale should look great as the details pretty good.
Steps 2 and 3
Still no major problems, other then a couple of little gaps which hopefully some glue will fill.

Built and primed
90% built, just the tracks, machine guns and various tools to go on.
Lovely kit to build, no major problems. Only nitpick is that on some parts there are no holes for the locating pins, an easy fix though, I just cut off the locating pins .

Paints on
Pre-shaded, XF 61 Dark Green base coat and then the center of the panels post-shaded with XF 65 Field Grey.
Next up will be the winter white wash. I will try Mal's technique that he used on the Henschel Hs 129B-2 in the Snow feature.

Whitewash on
Step 1 off the whitewash is done, Revell white enamel, with a drop of black added. Sprayed in thin coats, with several coats over selected parts to give a weathered look.
Next up is to streak the whitewash with thinners.

Hells teeth Andy, all in one day Looking good, are you going to remove some of the white wash, to give it an even more used look?

If I was building targets all week it would be easy, but I really must crack on with a certain U/boat i started a month ago, that I then gave up as 1/144 P.E was doing my head in :-) .

That's some going, all that in one day, it's looking good, I do like the winter white wash look, might try that when i build my KV2.

I wish i had the time to build and paint a model in a day... I always start out with the best intentions, then it all seems to go out the window. look forward to seeing the finished item.

Thanks guys.
The faded and washed out winter whitewash I feel came out really well.
A lovely non hassle build. I am going to buy the KV-2 version now :-).
My vignette shall be called Winters End

Looking superb Andy, are we going to get an article on this? One reason it looks so good, apart from the great modelling is that there seems to be a great improvement in your photography. What function have you discoverd on your camera, we could have a competition
My guess is "White balance"

Amazing Andy, particularly in view of the short time it took to build. I think I'm going to take up knitting instead. :-) :-) :-)

Brilliant,
I too am willing to take up the needles when faced with a day and a half quality build and finish like this.

Thanks for sharing this with us Andy.

Thanks Derek and Sam.
Its amazing how much you can get done when the Beloved and the kids go out, then you stay up all night :-).

Thanks Mal.
I could do one, but I would have to cheat a little as I didn't take any pics while I was weathering. I could always mock some pics up using another kit as the weathering technique subject.
White balance, nope, my camera hasn't got that button :-).

Write the article Nige, you have enough inprogress shots here to make it worthwhile, just aim for a good description of HOW you did it.

I've been inspired to actually get on and get into my spray booth after work and I have something ready, as of tonight, for it's second camo colour. Over the weekend I am aiming to apply the top colour to my N1 K1, see my thread HERE.
Although your build is inspirational, Andy, it wasn't actually this that has inspired me (targets ) I wont say what it has been but you are in for a treat when I can announce the goings on

Andy will you be entering this in the armour MOM?

Yeah Nige write the article :-) :-) .
OK Mal, I'll start on it. With the weathering part i will weather a piece of plasticard and take photos, a picture says a thousand words apparently.
Second camo colour, that's either British aircraft or that Tiger you have been hanging onto .
If I can get it off the base without disturbing the snow to much, then yes it will be in the armour MoM.
