I bought my gasmask for about 6 days ago, and have been working with my models continually. Thanks for all help with the subject "Braincells". Here is a picture of the mask.

That great Aragorn!! Just like the one I picked up!!

I've started to use the odorless thinner, and that seems to work just as well...

Aragon,

I would suggest to regulate the airflow a bit, you look a bit red in the face #:-) #:-) #:-)

Sorry, just kidding, you will love that mask, it makes life a lot easier

Hey Aragorn,

Just a note about those cartridges. Make sure that you change them after some time.

In the USA, the OSHA has made a law that there should be some managment to make sure that there are no breakthroughs. Some companies selling these cartidges here in the US have indicator colors as the cartidges start to where out. Others, rely on the calculation of concentration of contaminates (the thinners) and time. Others still jsut use once and discard.

Dave,
(I work in the Safety and Environmental department at a major Brewery here in USA)

I use a 3M 4251 mask, which is basically the same. When not in use, store the mask in a sealed container or sealed bag. This increases the life of your carbon mask for ages.
When you can SMELL anything while wearing the mask, something's wrong and you have to change the filters (and stop whatever you're doing that smells).

I use roughly the same mask - albeit just one filter, not two. Though I think I'll be getting something like that meself someday. :-)

Thanks for replies!

I will store the mask as you said, thanks for the tips all!

GIBeregovoy how can you use one filter when the gasmask is supposed to have to filters? Or do you have an "unusal" mask with one filter?

I meant one of those circular thingies which hold the filters. Yeah, my mask has two filters two - a circular cotton sheet, and the cartridge itself. I meant filter housing. Sorry for the confusion.
