There are a few notable changes to the reviews section I wanted to make known.

The first is that the "Summary" area has been re-vamped. Instead of a single "summary" (often not being a summary but rather an intro) I have set up a format similar to many other reviews both online and publshed. The new format includes a section in the review submission system for:

Highs: the positive things about the item
Lows: the negative
Verdict: A brief summary of the item all around

Also there is now a system for reporting whether or not you found the review to be helpful. This data will be used later to have a sort of "highest rated" review list. But we need the data first so get to clicking!

There is also a field now for "full title". This is useful for those really long titles that don't fit in the normal constraints of the regular title field.

Lastly there is a "First Look" selection for type of review. This review-type is for quick photo and text reviews that are less review and more an "over"view of a new item recently released.

Thanks,
Jim

I've got a review waiting for my attention - can't wait to see the new format.

I think this is THE most useful addition to it as it would be valuable feedback on what readers look for in a review.

Are there any options for readers to comment on why a review is not useful to them?

I presume this goes in the recent changes as well?
I noticed the pics in reviews and on-display articles have a new way how they load when left-clicked on.
To be honest, I think this is a step backwards when compared to the older single window which you could scroll up and down.
With longer reviews, it was convient how you could click on all the pics, they would load in the background and you could read the review at the same time.
Now the pics take over entire window (left-click), or you have to open a plethora of new tabs (or windows, depending on the browser).

Apart from this, the improvements are good ones.

Eetu,
To be honest I hadn't thought of the "clicking on all the photos and allowing them to load" as a feature per-say, more a bug (it trying to open the images in the same pop-up window). Interesting adaptation on your part.

I am not sure that most of the high-speed bandwidth users will want to see the old system restored, but what I will do for the minority of users who liked the old system is setup a configuration option in your my account area so that you can decide which version you'd prefer. That should solve this issue or browser/system compatibility issues.

Cheers,
Jim

Since the pic viewing system has been changed, I can't test it, but wasn't it supposed to show the in the new window, with a scroll-bar appearing on the right if all of the pics won't fit in the view?
IIRC, IE showed the bar, but firefox didn't. In the end it didn't really matter, since at least I scrolled the pics with the mouse wheel (kinda bad for people without them. I don't remember trying up and down keys, but I guess they would have probably worked too.

Cool to hear you're working on that option.
