Help, I'm having trouble putting an image in a post.

I wrote a post and tried to insert pictures of my tank. I put in img surronded by brackets at the begining of the URL where I had my pictures, then /img surronded by brackets at the end. When I posted the post everything showed fine but where the pictures should have been were small boxes with red crosses in them.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for your help.

To post an image here, the image has to be hosted somewhere on the web. Then go to the site, right click on the image, then click where it says properties. Highlight the url then right click and copy. Then place that url between the image brackets. If no luck, give a shout and we will figure it out.

Hi Rodger, I've sent you a personal message (PM) on the subject. Get back to me if you have a problem.

Let's try this then.

Ok, it worked, but it's so small. Do I use HTML to post it larger?

Holdfast, I just figured out how to read your personal message to me. I replied to you there.

Thanks to both of you for your help.

I'll get this all figured out yet. You wouldn't believe it but I sell computers. I can sell them, I just don't always know how to make them work.

Rodger,
You are grabbing the URL address for the thumbnail image on MSN, so that is the image you are seeing here. If you want the larger image then click on the small one and right-click onthe image to see it's URL address. The next part is a bit tricky. You can't SEE the entire address on that screen because it is so long. You have to highlight the URL and also drag down with your mouse until the entire URL is selected. Then copy and paste as normal.

Cheers,
Jim

Ok, let's try this again. I think Jim might have sugested the right thing.

BINGO That did it. The trick was to pull the mouse down so I got the entire URL.

Thank you all for your help. It just goes to show you are all gentlemen and scholars.

...and you are a scholarly gentleman!

I love it when more users learn how to post pics. ...I get to see more models!

I see you have built one of my favorite tanks. Looks great!
