Thanks guys.
I am now attempting the rigging, wibble wibble pertang, there are 44 blocks and tackle parts to rig together first, thread monster coming to get me aaarrrrgggghhhh, then some how it all goes around the main mast a cross beam thingy, NNNNOOOOOOOOOOO not my legs.
I think I'm going mad, I'm going to have a lie down in a darkened room for a bit :-) .

Andy

Enjoy the rigging - you'll feel great when it's finished.

Hope Courtney is feeling better soon.

"Why is the main mast bent like a bow"

As the Romans did not yet have the benefit of Gunpowder, they invented or improved a number of tension or pivoting weapons. This I believe was an experimental version of the trebuchet. Unfortunately upon releasing the firing pin holding the projectile down, the projectile swung in a gracefull arc upwards, but failed to release. It continued it's gracefull arc down and holed the hull.

Cheers

Luckily the mast hasn't bent, so sinking my own ship shouldn't happen :-) .
As the rigging fairy failed to turn up i had to do it myself :-) , and about a third of the rigging is complete. Now i have to spray and add the sails to complete the rest of the rigging. The white cotton came with the kit, and once i give it a burnt umber wash it should look more rope like.

That looks excellant Andy and I agree that the sails are well done. Overall very well done.

Is it possible to scan the eye, then make a decal? Or you could draw it, keep going until you get one you like and make a decal of that. Or let me know what size it needs to be and I'll have a go, it doesn't look to difficult ya wimp

You must enter this in the Ship MOM.

Thanks guys.
I am quite pleased with how its turned out, so much so i can't wait for Revell to release their Viking Longboat in May .
The sails do look really good considering they are injected plastic.
As for the eye, i did think about a decal but i would lose the wood effect. As for drawing it, no chance, my drawing is worse then my modelling :-).
I don't think there is a MOM for ships, not that i can find anyway .
