Hey all:

After a 25 year hiatus, I decided pick up the hobby again. I started with a few simple (older) Tamiya kits, but after reading Vinnies article on the Dragon Tiger I, I was smitten. Found one at a good price, and am ready to have at it...

Things have changed, and the PE stuff is throwing me a bit of a loop. I saw on some BBS a good tool to make accurate bends in PE.

Anyone know the name of the tool or have any recomendations on a good one?

Just joined this forum, but so far it looks great!

Best,

Freddie

Thanks dp - I will check it out!

Wow have things changed in the industry! When I was a kid, you just got a kit. Period - now so many add-ons and 3rd party stuff. I reckon the advancements in molding technology and PE and stuff.

Mind boggling that so many cottage industries have sprung up around this hobby. I think it's terrifc!

Thanks & Best,

Freddie

Hey Roy:

Great information in that thread! Thanks!

I really need to pick one of those puppies up if I plan to do any real PE work. Who actually makes the Hold & Fold? I dinna ken find a reference, though I have not googled it yet. If you know a site?

If you do alot of PE they are very useful, especially for ship builders.

It is an investment in your tool kit so if you're committed to PE then they are worth the money in the long run.

Just a quick chime in to this: I have the 4-inch Hold and Fold kit. It really is an invaluable tool for lots of PE. I've used it a fair amount and love it. I chose this particular brand (several years ago mind you when they were really back ordered and he was having a hard time keeping up) after about an hour's conversation on the phone with the owner/designer. The guy simply rocked...straight forward, to the point, very professional. HE sold me on this and I haven't "naysayed" it or ever regretted the purchase. Granted, it's a lot of money (more so now than then....), but in some cases, oh so worth it.
